Yes, agree that accounting for TJs and JVs age they are about as valuable as Stro. Will be interesting to see what Sto gets. Will be more than a one year deal but could be less AAV.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 2:46 pmYeah, I was discounting a bit for the TJ surgeries. Here is a guy that did a study, though he doesn't seem to make much of a conclusion. Seems to have more confidence in Verlander than Syndergaard

Well if JD doesn't do something today we could be waiting literally for months. I am sure everyone will take the four day break and I highly doubt he does something just a day or two prior to the lockout.

Yeah its interesting, its coming down to this early off season deadline. On the other hand, it takes two to tango. He has targeted certain players, that is my defense of Dipoto so far. He can't just be on everybody like the forum wants him to be. So if the players he wants want to play the two week scramble before the season begins so be it. There is going to be this huge intermission and then he will be back to proving to be a deal maker
back to the study i posted, I just think its funny. Not that i can recommend reading it. But he starts out with the premise and then goes on and on about all sorts of things and never that I can find actually brings up how many innings either of them might toss. The article leads to nothing lol
this is how it begins, there is never an answer

I wanted to know: When an established starting pitcher enters spring training 100 percent back from Tommy John surgery but having barely or not yet returned to action, what can we expect from them that season?
I’m most interested in this question from a workload standpoint, since a common reaction to the Verlander and Syndergaard signings was: "That’s a lot of money for 120 innings!" I’ll admit, I thought the same thing! So I wanted to find out how many innings pitchers have thrown in their first season back after surgery.
Thanks to the excellent work of Jon Roegele, there is a tremendously thorough and organized public database of pitchers who have had Tommy John surgery and the timelines associated with their return to the mound. Using this resource, we can narrow the large list to those who had TJ and returned under similar circumstances as Syndergaard and Verlander.

This is all well and good and certainly isn't a bad thing but I wonder how many of these rumors come from agents trying to drum up demand. Pretty easy to just tell Morosi that all the teams that have a need for SPs are in on him.

Like Dipoto is going to read in Yahoo sports that the Angels are in on Gausman so we better get in on him too?
Re: Jerry says he has meetings set-up
No it would be the team that is negotiating with him hearing they have significant competition so they better step up or risk losing him.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 4:16 pmLike Dipoto is going to read in Yahoo sports that the Angels are in on Gausman so we better get in on him too?

Free agent righthander Kevin Gausman and Seattle lefthander Marco Gonzales, who faced each other on Opening Day 2021, have ties that go back to their high school days in Colorado:
