Jerry says he has meetings set-up
Re: Jerry says he has meetings set-up
I would be fine if he was the 3rd or 4th best bat they add but if his the headliner its and epic fail of an off season.

btw I was looking at Stroman's twitter and he is a HUGE fan of the cry baby your avatar. Defends him from all those mean critics every chance he gets.bpj wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:15 pmDepends if you want to believe actual production, or "he should've had" stats.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 6:44 pmStecker on Story. He makes the same mistake looking at Arenado's OPS+ and saying "see, he's the same guy" Dumb

Not sure they would hand out that $150M contract and pay him like a Top 20 player to have him put up an .807 OPS ranking mid-50's in MLB.
Got yourself an expensive 5 or 6 batter imo.
Story would be worse than Crawford in Seattle imo. At least Crawford hit on the road.

You point out that Stroman was like Bedard, coming out after 5 innings all the time, one time, and apparently he didn't like that comparison.D-train wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:35 pmbtw I was looking at Stroman's twitter and he is a HUGE fan of the cry baby your avatar. These sjw's all have hair triggers on the block button.
Side note, getting a new Twitter account is hard to do once they've banned you from your phone # and the Google Voice Phone # associated to your phone.
Now I already received a warning just for calling some lib celeb a sloppy cooter, which they said was an assault on gender or some BS.

Stroman's tweets indicated that he would be open to coming here but if JD has met with him he completely kept that a secret.

Misread the BR splits. My bad. I'm not in love with Kris Bryant. He's not bad, but I prefer other options. I definitely would not be mad at Seattle for signing him. I like Story and Taylor vs. Bryant because of their ability to both play SS and the OF. Bryant has the better bat, but I value defense more than others do.SeattleSportsRUs wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 6:48 pmThe hell are you talking about? Bryant?Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 6:29 pmHe hasn't put up more than 2.2 WAR since 2019. That was 3 years ago. 4.4, 0.5, 2.2, 1.1 and his OPS was only. 788 all year last year. This bat looks like its beginning to decline. Not sure I want the tail end of a Kris Bryant contract.SeattleSportsRUs wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 6:11 am
The obvious difference being that Bryant has dropped an OPS over .900 three times while Figgins dropped an OPS over .800 once. If Bryant is healthy, he's a potential .850-.950 OPS bat.
The two couldn't be more different.
Also, I don't quite understand why people internalized the Figgins contract so harshly. It was 4-years $36 million. $9 million a year was pretty mediocre, even for 2010-2012.
If the M's signed Stroman I'd be over the moon. 200 innings of 3.00-3.25 ERA a year? Sign me up.
Semien, Bryant, Stroman and a trade for a starting pitcher would be one hell of an off season.
He put up 3.6 fWAR in 2021. He put up 4.7 fWAR in 2019.
His 2nd half OPS was .788, his total OPS was .835 with a 124 OPS+.
He played 2020 with a fractured wrist and only appeared in 34 games.
Re: Jerry says he has meetings set-up
Taylor can do it all but Story has never played anywhere but SS. I can see Taylor > Bryant but can't see Story as the better option.

I want absolutely nothing to do with Story. The guy won't even sniff a .800 OPS with Safeco as his home ball park.
Re: Jerry says he has meetings set-up
Yeah and a significant portion of his WAR is because he is an SS. He will have to play 2B so he loses the positional scarcity bump.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 11:01 pmI want absolutely nothing to do with Story. The guy won't even sniff a .800 OPS with Safeco as his home ball park.
I would say he is a 2 WAR player for us.

Re: Jerry says he has meetings set-up
Not to mention he will have to learn how to play 2B and we saw with Toro's wretched double play turns that it is not insignificant set of skills if you have never done it.
