Marte the first guy that would've been a big get. Seems like a very reasonable contract.

Has to have Conforto sucking wind on his asking price.
I disagree I would have loved landing Verlander at that price. Thor, Loup would have been an absolute awesome get for our BP. We need a dominate Lefty down there. escobar would have been a nice 3rd upgrade for the lineup. Wood would have been a decent 2nd starter, Ed Rod.

With just the guys on the list I would be set:
Belt, Marte, and Escobar (48M)
Pitching
Verlander, Ed Rod, and Loup (48M)
and LOLs
Current Mariner payroll I believe is right around 48M

I was wondering about Conforto. The mets preferred Marte at 4 yrs/$78 M. I guess they get a compensation pick too.

I believe the rumor was that Conforto was looking to get something around 6/150M.
That seems a bit too high for a guy coming off a 100 OPS+ year.

3 well above average players on reasonable contracts. I think the Mets have done what we expected Jerry and the M's to do.
Plus the mets are in on Suzuki, Stroman, Max, etc.

Have holes. Fill holes. Nice work by the Mets.

Bat: Semien, Suzuki, Story, Seager, Conforto

Starter: Scherzer, Gausman, Stroman, Ray

LHP: Chafin

My dream scenario 1 of each is still alive. I'd prefer two bats. Any two would do.

Depending who signs Conforto, that pick might not be worth much. If the M's sign him, they give up a third round pick. Imagine passing on re-signing your own player for a third round pick. The only way that looks smart is if Conforto goes into rapid decline next year. Honestly, teams way overvalue some of these draft picks, especially outside the first round. And I'm saying that as someone that is sort of a fan of the draft. But honestly, these later round picks don't usually amount to much. Sometimes you get lucky in the later rounds, but usually you don't.

We need 3 bats, 2 starters and a lh reliever if Kerr isnt the answer.

We just saw the Mets make three moves in a day.

We need to hold Jerrys feet to the fire to spend that money the fans have been so understanding of them setting aside for later use the last few years. Pushing the prospects down for a year does nothing but stuff the system full of talent, from the top-down for once.

We have 6 holes from where I'm sitting, if we're chasing a playoff spot.

Vacancy (Best Available)

LF/DH (Schwarber or Conforto)
1B or 2B or 3B (Olsen or Semien or Bryant or Freeman)
CF (Suzuki or Reynolds or Buxton or Mullins)
SP (Ray or Gausman or Scherzer)
SP (Rodon or Stroman or any above)
LH RP (Chafin)

Seems like they'll fill all but the DH/LF. They have plenty of payroll to add impact at each vacancy instead of shopping the bins for Mileys and Aokis.

That sums it up about right. I'm ok with two impact bats since Julio will be here next season. And we still don't know if we're going to be getting anything from Lewis or White. JRod might make the jump straight out of Spring Training.

I would love to see an OF of Kelenic/Suzuki/Rodriguez and DH with Haniger. Lewis and Fraley could fight for the 4th spot. And if we sign Taylor, Bryant, or Story, they could get reps out there as well, including Haniger.

I was curious how the market would play out. There does seem an early push by the teams that were predicted to get in early, teams less concerned with salary cap restrictions...For all Dipotos talk of being aggressive, haven't seen much
Feels like I predicted him not being predictable.
