And a $130 payroll would be enough to fill every hole in the MLB roster with quality players this offseason and leave room for growth.

I think Divish was even guessing a $130M payroll. It's time to open the purse and get there.
Agreed. To acquire players through trades, you need to give to get. For free agents you add talent.
But at the cost of a draft pick if they come with a QO. We already forfeited a third rounder. Next one will cost us a fourth.
Exactly, which is the case for not waiting until future years to add your free agents.

It's a lesser cost to add more now. Next year would cost us another 3rd rounder, instead of just a 4th, 5th or 6th this year, depending how many they sign.

Suzuki has no QO.

Fill a dump truck up with Benjamins, back it up to his lawn and start emptying it until he says “ok”.

I don't see it as much of a problem, much less than trading for a Ray type talent.

It's an advantage over those that went over the lux tax limits. Those teams lose a higher pick and $1M of international draft pool money. For those teams that don't receive revenue sharing, they lose $500k of international draft pool money.

Suzuki $13M
Rodon $25 M
J. Ramirez $11M
Schwarber $15M
Chafin $6M

+ $83M current payroll

= $153M, 10th in MLB

They could easily go with Chapman and an A's pitcher over Ramirez/Rodon and be at ~$130M.

I'd really like them to get Suzuki.

Chapman, Olson and Montas seems like a perfect trade for us if they genuinely want Frazier at Util.

What are you giving up for that?
Julio, Marte, Hancock and Kirby?

It's six years of total control I believe, 2 years of each. I wouldn't give up JRod because the Mariners could easily just pay on the free agent market for similar players.

I am curious why everyone want Chapman, He is a RH Seager who’s stats other then OBP were worse.

Again BPJ why Chapman

I don't want him personally, but as far as upside, he has it. I want Olson more and the only way I care about Chapman at all is in a package where he's an afterthought.

Chapman is about as exciting as Frazier, but if they're the 5th and 6th best moves of the offseason when all is said and done it makes a lot of sense imo.

Olson would be the crown jewel.
