The foot was mentioned earlier but oblique and back were also issues for him at other times. He's in better shape now but his explanation always seemed more like "I was trying to be corner IF sized and I've gone back to MiF sized." Not that he didn't say he was in the best shape of his life.

Re: Seager
How much has Seager benefitted from the new, bouncier baseballs they're using? Seems that might account for his power surge.
Re: Seager
Surely but so is the majority of the league. Everyone is swinging for the fences as cosigned by the strikeout rates rising even higher. Kyle is not quite at an Alltime high strikeout rate, it was higher last year.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 2:44 pmHow much has Seager benefitted from the new, bouncier baseballs they're using? Re: Seager
Seager's rebound has been amazing... and he certainly remade his body... I would still trade him if the opportunity arose.
Gordon and Smith have accounted for 70 stolen bases so far, might even break 100 SB.... Neither are a liability at their position.
I really like JP at SS.
The constant chirping at Danny V to swing more often has reduced his effectiveness.... I would replace SS.
It has been one lousy year so far...

Hi Mike,
Glad you made it back. I agree with all that though we aren't going anywhere with guys that are just not liabilities. Gordon and Mallex must go.

Re: Seager
Dom Santa is #1 on my must go list. Unless he can play 1b adequately which I find difficult to fathom if he can't even focus on the game while in the OF. Healy is another.
Mallex Smith won me over when he became the first Mariner to steal his way from 1st to home. I don't personally think him or Dee are near the top of the list of Mariner problems. Either should be movable during the season when the spot is needed. The end of spring could be tougher. I'd say Gordon's spot will be needed by then but Smith could be basically keeping Kelenics spot warm until the middle of next year.
Re: Seager
I'm going to recommend watching some defensive footage from the Seagerless May. Life without Kyle was not fun at all. His contract isn't in the way of anything. Nobody even wants to spend on Gerrit Cole, why do we need to save by removing one of the few quality ML players on the team?mikeyb12 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 7:34 pmSeager's rebound has been amazing... and he certainly remade his body... I love the bat, he's ok on the bases but his glove is... his WAR is lower than Smith's.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 9:04 pmBPJ is his #1 fan.Wishhiker wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 8:50 pmDom Santa is #1 on my must go list. Even his bat is Meh. His wRC+ is 19th of 29 RFs.
