That's not an accurate representation of his bat. After being removed from the game in the 3rd inning July 23rd and sitting out 4 games, he played through the injury for 59 PA of .122/.259 .265 .524OPS of continued pain. Still, in LF where he mostly played he's 12th. Through the 23rd his wRC+ was better but still not great 117, it dropped to 109 while playing with injury.

Dom Santa is #1 on my must go list. Unless he can play 1b adequately which I find difficult to fathom if he can't even focus on the game while in the OF. Healy is another.

Mallex Smith won me over when he became the first Mariner to steal his way from 1st to home. I don't personally think him or Dee are near the top of the list of Mariner problems. Either should be movable during the season when the spot is needed. The end of spring could be tougher. I'd say Gordon's spot will be needed by then but Smith could be basically keeping Kelenics spot warm until the middle of next year.

Including his time in LF, where he should have been for maybe two weeks, sure.

Santana isn't that great, yet, but Mallex is very clearly a joke. We have ten guys that can play CF or 2B, why would we need Mallex or Dee keeping either spot warm?

Dee isn't killing us, he's just not our best option. But Mallex is a laugher in this league. Even in CF.

Mallex Smith looks absolutely overmatched. Dee Gordonnwould make a fine UTIL, but he's not a capable above average starting 2B.

He's above replacement level at 2B. But that's a far cry from above league average.
