Re: Seager
I don't really care when they move on from Gordon. I'd be trying to move him this offseason because he's not a part of the future. I already said as much. But he's been hitting .325/.339/.425 .764 the last 33 games and is a stud with the glove. He's loved in the clubhouse and that's not a part of my decision but it is a part of the teams.
Mallex and Santana have a chance to improve their stock in 2020 before being moved. That would be my focus there if everyone fit. Since they're not going to I see more focus on improving and have seen more actual change from Mallex than Dom. I believe in him putting in the work more than Santana.

No chance I'd waste more time on Mallex personally. He's already displaced by Fraley and Lewis once Haniger and Santana are healthy. He's not even our best 4th OF option anymore. He's probably not even better than Dylan Moore in that role and it's incredibly easy to see Moore squeezed from the roster in the offseason.
Meanwhile Santana, when healthy, is still our best option for a legitimate RF. By far.
Re: Seager
Man I have agreed with nearly every thing you said since you have joined but Dee and Mallex would barely be above average AAA players.Wishhiker wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 11:32 pmThey are capable above league average players. The same is true of Santana but his lack of focus on defense kills me.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 11:28 pmIncluding his time in LF, where he should have been for maybe two weeks, sure.
Santana isn't that great, yet, but Mallex is very clearly a joke. We have ten guys that can play CF or 2B, why would we need Mallex or Dee keeping either spot warm?
Dee isn't killing us, he's just not our best option. But Mallex is a laugher in this league. Even in CF.
Mallex is the ranked 11th WORST of 140 for qualified players in WAR and Dee is ranked 34th WORST of 213 with 350+ PAs. That is so far below average they can't see average with a Hubble telescope.

Re: Seager
I will contend 1 thing, using WAR for players playing out of position isn't fair. If we are judging them, we are judging their value to the team for the future, and Mallex Smith playing in RF is going to be horrible for his WAR. Not sure if that makes a difference or not for his overall WAR. Similar to Austin Nola. You can compare him to 1B, and his WAR is probably not that great, but if you take his batting and put it at 2B or C, then it looks a whole lot better.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 12:24 amMan I have agreed with nearly every thing you said since you have joined but Dee and Mallex wouldn't barely be above average AAA players.Wishhiker wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 11:32 pmThey are capable above league average players. I haven't been watching as much since he got back, but his defense is not the "gold glove" quality at 2B that I was expecting when they moved him back there from CF.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 12:28 amGordon is ranked 13th of 14 qualified 2Bs defensively:
