Mallex and Dee have both produced above that level. This is not the only year of either's career. Same with Santana. And I already said I don't want Dee here next year twice, you continue to quote it.

I'm only saying that a 26 year old Mallex and 27 year old Santana aren't necessarily cooked. Smith is the one who made amusements in season though. That's who I'd bet on if having to pick 1. Partly because his bad CF is definitely better than Santana would be.

You want to continue to attack one thing I said and act like 5 months is a baseball life, be my guest. You're missing the point.
Where do I keep quoting anything about Dee? I saw what you've said.

Mallex over Santana is your prerogative. You can have it.

Until Houston has a bunch of their best position players either retire, get too expensive to re-sign or else go into mid career slumps, this "rebuild" of ours needs to focus on pitching. Pitching that's big and nasty enough to take Houston's All Star lineup down a peg or two. Like the Dodgers did in the 1960s. Otherwise our rebuild might give us a closer look at Houston's back bumper but that's about it.
That is exactly what they are doing as evidenced by the June draft.

So instead of competing against their offense we just have to be better than their Justin Verlanders and Zach Greinkes. No prob..

And Mallex didn't "produce above" anything. He had 21 more singles get by while playing his home games on the fast turf in 2018. He was 100% turf mirage in his "productive" year so I reject that assumption.

Santanas only problem was being kept in the left field experiment for months too long, imo.

Yes, Smith definitely made some "amusements" this season. Can not argue with that! :)

He had a significantly lower K rate, slightly higher walk rate, way lower soft contact and went a bit more oppo on the ground with TB which suits his profile better. I'm not leaving that all on luck.
