To stand pat or not to stand pat, that is the Q
Re: To stand pat or not to stand pat, that is the Q
A rookie pitcher with good stuff but bad control relegated to AAA and the Pen, a baby and a former top prospect that had one of the worst three starts to a big league career in history and still hasn't come close to proving hit can hit mlb pitcher for 1.5 years of a proven TOR starter with a 2.77 ERA and almost 10 k's per 9. I think the Reds will get at least that.

I hope they add a starter. Go get Castillo. Trade Dollard/Brash, Trammell, Aguilar/M. Arroyo, Kelenic. I would really like to keep Hancock, Marte, E. Arroyo, Ford, Gonzales, Montes. If we could get Castillo without losing any of those 6, I'd be ecstatic.
Castillo slots in behind Ray, and you can alternate giving Gilbert and Kirby rest the second half of the season so Kirby can still get innings, and Gilbert can be fresh for the playoffs. Get Kirby up to around 140 innings (including his minor league innings and have him without restrictions next year.
Castillo, Ray and Gilbert for the playoffs with Marco, Flexen and Kirby in the pen.
Next season
Gilbert
Ray
Castillo
Kirby
Flexen/ Marco, trade whoever gets you the best return.

We'll see I guess... players w. so little control remaining tend to not fetch as much as BTV would indicate.D-train wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 4:45 pmA rookie pitcher with good stuff but bad control relegated to AAA and the Pen, a baby and a former top prospect that had one of the worst three starts to a big league career in history and still hasn't come close to proving hit can hit mlb pitcher for 1.5 years of a proven TOR starter with a 2.77 ERA and almost 10 k's per 9. What do you guys think of this deal?
Get the cheaper version of Castillo... + replace Brash with a reliever who has a very strong history. I don't usually put a ton of faith in FIP but a full 3.00 disparity between his FIP and ERA indicate he's getting screwed.
Re: To stand pat or not to stand pat, that is the Q
I would even swap Lewis for Trammell. But very possible that is where the website breaks down with Lewis' health concerns. A's might not to touch him with 10 ft pole and actually prefer Trammell.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 7:28 pm

Montas we'd get for 2023 as well. I'd be OK with that trade

Is Montas healthy though? I thought they pulled him the other day.

Re: To stand pat or not to stand pat, that is the Q
They pulled him cause his velo was down and he had shoulder inflammation.
But I'd be lying if I said I didn't think it was an "F YOU" to the A's for blowing his last start against the M's. I'm sure he wants out really bad.

This year's Tyler Anderson may be Jose Quintana, another Pittsburgh lefthander born in 1989.
Anderson had posted an ERA+ of 98 and 1.3 fWAR in 18 starts covering 103.1 innings when the Pirates traded the southpaw to the Mariners for catcher Carter Bins and righthander Joaquin Tejada.
For the Pirates this year Quintana has posted an ERA+ of 106 and 1.8 fWAR in 18 starts covering 90.1 innings.
The cost should not be high.
