I actually hate the Draft system as is, I have no issues with the worst teams being first to the begging bowl on picking waivers up but there is something inherently wrong and something very un-American about wanting your team to lose so you can get a higher draft pick. Make it a complete lottery but I realise I am in the minority here.

BTW I like a early game thread, as BPJ said it gives us a space to talk about the previous game and any news that might be happening through the day.
That's fine with me on the early thread, I was simply commenting on the fact that it was so early from what I'd seen. It wasn't an emotional response or I would have stated a preference and possibly emotion as well.

I see Shed has his OPS up to 816 which is a decent uptick considering the start.

I was thinking. Perhaps use records on August 31st or even July 31st?

Tanking isn't near as big of a problem in baseball and NBA or NFL imo. I don't see teams deliberately trying to lose games in MLB. The bad teams are just bad. Yeah, they trade away their best players, but that's more about acquiring talent with the trades than it is losing games for the draft

I think the whole concept of tanking is really overblown by the fans and media. A lot of players are out there with their careers on the line and they're not going to tank even if it might seem management is.

There really isn't much of a benefit to tanking. In MLB the draft is a crap shoot. In the NFL you can get the best player at any of a number of positions anywhere in the top ten and even beyond, and the higher you pick the more you have to pay, plus if you really want someone and somebody's in front of you, you can always trade up. Even in the NBA, where the best players are more clearly defined, you can have the worst record in the league and very easily end up drafting fourth.

It seems that a lot of people accuse teams of tanking because it's a lot more edgy and clever than just saying they suck.

Oh, teams definitely tank in the NBA. The other sports agent as bad, but the NBA definitely has had teams tank. The players might suck, but all it takes is 1 "injury" to keep out your best player.

Speaking of tanking, JP Crawford has plummeted back to the real world hasn't he?

Still fine for a shortstop, but having that power would sure be a nice bonus.

What we're seeing from Lewis isn't far off from what we should be expecting from RF, LF, 1B and DH. This fanbase is soft and accepts mediocrity.
