The point is that the FBI and DOJ have become an arm of the DNC and we no longer have a "justice" system that is impartial. The charges against Hillary are nearly identical to those against Trump. All the FBI did was make Trump into a martyr. If they don't release the info they are charging Trump with, then people are really gonna be pissed. Oh, and by the way, the FBI confiscated much in the way of attorney/client privileged documents. I'm guessing most of that info will be "leaked" to the MSM.
1) No, the FBI and DOJ are not part of the DNC.
2) Trump hasn't been charged yet
3) If he is charged, it will be made public, because that's how it works in this country
4) I've seen no reporting about attorney/client privileged documents, but maybe that's the case
5) Regarding the point above, if the documents you're talking about were memos between the White House Counsel and the President, those are NOT privileged, though they could very well be classified

I agree that there does appear to be a double standard at work, i.e. Hillary got off easy but now they're going after Trump. But it's also possible that when prosecutors looked at the evidence in the Hillary case, they couldn't figure out how to make the charges stick in a way that would convince a jury. And that decision not to charge her was later upheld by the Justice Department Inspector General. And keep in mind as well that the Trump DOJ could have opened that case again, but declined to do so.

I know you really want to feel outraged, but at least consider the possibility that career officials are simply doing their jobs and following the trail of evidence where it leads, which in this case was Mar-a-Lago and an apparent stash of classified documents. The question to ask is why did Trump have those documents?
Nice try, GL. You and gil should get together.

So Dershowitz is saying that all those Democrats holding rallies chanting "Lock Him Up! Lock Him Up!" are misguided? :D

I say again that I think the Democrats stand the best chance of winning the presidency in 2024 if Trump is the GOP nominee.

I also think the Republican are in the process of blowing their chances for a historic blowout in this year's elections. If the GOP would just stick to inflation, border security, crime, Afghanistan -- winning issues -- instead of running candidates who fall in with Trump about the 2020 election, they'd take both the Senate and the House. Easy. I read that the GOP senate reelection committee is pulling money from Wisconsin and Arizona because their candidates are doing so badly there. Perfectly winnable states that they could lose because of running Trump acolytes. If the Dems hold onto the Senate, it will be because of far right GOP candidates, instead of more moderate ones, in AZ, WI, PA, GA.
"All those Democrats?" All 12 of them? Geez gil, you try so hard to be a "middle of the road" voter. Everything you say points to your being left of center. Give it up. You are trying too hard.

So you are saying what Hillary did is different from what Trump MAY have done? I wonder where you've been since 2016? What, exactly, did Comey say?

I thought GL made some good points. Is that what you meant by your response? :)

I was trying to be funny, but obviously not successfully. No I haven't heard any dems say "lock him up", but I was referring to the refrain ("lock her up") in the Trump 2016 campaign. The Dershowitz article is like a lot of other partisan stuff I see (both left and right): representing your opponent in a way that isn't accurate, and then attacking them for it.

By the way, ddraig, what do YOU consider "middle of the road"? I think it would be interesting to hear what you and others think.

I say a guy with 10s of thousands of followers excitedly tweet that if Trump was found to have sold nuclear secrets to the Saudis he would be convicted of Treason and likely get Life in prison or even executed. The giddiness of those replying was hilarious.

Guess that is why I don't pay much attention to people whose claim to fame is a lot of Twitter followers. I seriously doubt that is something that Trump did. But *if* he did ... what should be done?

That's like asking, "*IF* gil did the same thing, what should be done?" Until the DOJ releases ALL of the information they placed onto the warrant, everything is speculation. Why bother asking. You have no proof of anything. Maybe Trump left a wet towel on the floor in the bathroom. Maybe the agents wanted to steal some of Melania's panties so they could take them home and sniff them. Maybe... Maybe... Maybe...

Hillary Clinton wasn't President.

She set up her own server, deleted thousands of emails, used bleach bit to wipe devices, and smashed phones to pieces when subpoenaed.

Bit of a difference...
