Add two of those guys and two other pretty damn good guys in place of our 4 worst and I dont think it's crazy, personally.

In my opinion they really should start their push in 2020. If for nothing else than to show this core they actually believe in them, not waiting for the next core. Add 4 good players this offseason. We know they have boatloads of cash, it's not unheard of. Clock's ticking on guys like Marco, Haniger, Santana, Narvaez. Why wait anyways? Because other teams might still be better? Terrible excuse, imo.

Well they originally said they were going to start mid 2020 so starting at the beginning of 2020 makes a hell of a lot more sense than that. I don't think you will see significant FAs until next off season though. Maybe even after the 2021 season.

The real facts are that the average MLB salary has declined for the second year running and is at its lowest for 4 seasons. The players are pissed off and for the first time in MLB history the Union and League have agreed to an earlier renegotiation of the collective bargaining agreement.

The premier FA starting pitcher available on the market who up until last year had earned 31 mil in 6 MLB seasons was waiting for his turn to get his "retroactive compensation" and he waited and waited and then once the compensation pick phase passed(well after the season had started) he got a 1 year 20 million deal. Why? Because no one fancied giving him a long term deal for the 31 year old who is probably on the downward trend of his career.

Yep, owners, with the help of sabermetric oriented GMs and staff finally have had the epiphany of "why would we pay retroactive compensation" Of course much of the liberal sports media calls it collusion and keeping the poor "worker" down.

The owners should collude.

Could be translated as, throw the players together by the start of the year, expect the mess to sort itself and add on at the break. I like the sounds of that much better than go into 2020 with this same crew and wait for 2021 to replace the obvious holes.
