Think actually if he is dominant I might go with Boyd, you could insert him in high leverage situations with a pretty good chance of success

Biggest difference is probably who they're replacing.

Trammell would be playing over one of our weak bats.

Boyd would be pitching instead of one of our other already good bullpen arms.

The marginal upgrade is marginally smaller on the relief pitching side imo.

Exactly my point. And this isn't going to Randy Johnson out of the pen like I have seen him built up to be on twitter by some.

What am I missing??

Past two seasons he has completely sucked.

They can save 2 days of Brash/Festa/other salary with the callup of Boyd and sending down a reliever, since they have to pay Boyd anyway.

They optioned down Evan White, he doesn't get to 3 years of service time. I suspect they keep him down all next year too, unless he is hitting the cover off the ball.

They could call up Trammell, but they only face one RH starting pitcher, the next 3 days. In fact they could wait until Sept. 2 and save 2.5K for one day.
I guess if they are focused on employee parking space revenue loss, they might be focused on 2 days of a minimum salary pitcher as well....

Boyd was injured last season, he would be adding a piece the bullpen lacks
He was a generally durable member of the rotation between 2017-20, starting 25+ games in all three full seasons and taking a full slate of 12 turns during the abbreviated 2020 campaign. Boyd struck out over 30% of opponents in 2019 and emerged as an in-demand trade candidate that summer, but the Tigers never found an offer to their liking and held onto him.
That didn’t pan out, as Boyd was hit hard in 2020. He looked on his way to a bit of a bounceback last year, but he began battling arm discomfort in June.
.Boyd has allowed just two runs with 14 strikeouts and no walks in eight innings of relief for Tacoma on a rehab stint in the past few weeks. He’ll step into a Seattle bullpen that skews extremely right-handed, giving manager Scott Servais a southpaw complement.

Yeah, we can definitely use a lefty but I think think expectations includes some irrational exuberance due to the Seattle connection. Maybe he will be better out of the pen than as a starter.

Yeah I don't know anything about Boyd, he seems like he has been effective in the past. This is more a philosophical thing with me. I've said before I tend to favor pitching over hitting in terms of late season additions.
Tramell goes in the lineup against right handers. He gets four at bats, are any high leverage, does he actually get a hit? With Boyd you can actually point him at high leverage situations and expect success if he is what he is supposed to be.

Yeah I was wrong about Borucki, hopefully I will pleasantly surprised by Boyd as well.
