Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
I think there's enough low hanging fruit that they shouldn't have to trade from the good part of their MLB rotation, but it's not all that unlike the Walker for Haniger trade.
Walker had fewer years of control, but I get what you're trying to do by making the move.
There are guys like Hunter Renfroe and Kolten Wong that fill holes and are basically there for the plucking without giving up much of consequence, so I don't think Dipoto will get cute with his rotation, other than dangling Marco or Flexen for a guy like Renfroe or Wong.

I don't see any circumstance where Kirby or Gilbert get traded unless it's for Ohtani.
There's really nobody else on the trade market that matches their value.
Reynolds is the only bat out there that might be comparable but he's lost value since 2021. Less years of control, not as productive 2022. A collection of prospects would make more sense for him anyway.

See this from dipoto on the type of Player they are after, nothing about OPS
. “We would like to strike out less, we’d like to walk more, we’d like to raise our batting average – there’s a variety of different statistical goals that you can look to achieve by acquiring a player who does those things well.”

Hopefully because they have pretty good power numbers already.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 1:33 pmSee this from dipoto on the type of Player they are after, nothing about OPS

Who, the team or the guy they go after. The priority seems to be striking out less and getting on base more. Think dipoto really likes his bat to ball skills

The team. We hit a lot of bombs...especially late in the year...Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 1:54 pmWho, the team or the guy they go after. The priority seems to be striking out less and getting on base more. Think dipoto really likes his bat to ball skills

Okay, sign Benintendi to play right field and hit leadoff, move Rodriguez down in the lineup. Where's ichiro when you need him
