I'd keep Flexen too. Especially with way Robbie Ray was pitching at the end of last season. Dude was throwing up a 5.00 ERA around June 6th. He better figure some shit out or that signing could come back to haunt us. Flexen would be great insurance.bpj wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 5:46 amAs long as they include David Bednar, yep.harmony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 4:19 amWould anyone trade five years of righthander Logan Gilbert for three years of outfielder Bryan Reynolds if the Mariners could sign Robbie Ray’s buddy, righthander Zack Greinke, as a bridge to starter prospects Emerson Hancock, Taylor Dollard, Bryce Miller, Bryan Woo and Matt Brash?

I'd skip Greinke at this point and probably just keep Flexen until Brash or Hancock or whichever kid is ready to take the fifth spot.
Starting pitching is our biggest area of depth, and we need to put some runs across the plate.
Reynolds+Bednar have totaled 11.7 fWAR in 2021 and 2022, with 7 years of control remaining between the two of them.

Really inconsistent season for RR. Was really good or pretty bad depending on the Month. Seems that should be something that can be fixed though.

Re: Reynolds requests a trade
Let's hope so. I know he was tinkering around with his 2-seamer last year. But I wanna see CY Young Robbie Ray. I've seen a couple of games that were close to that, but nothing over a full season. The Rangers and Halos are going to be stronger next season. So our pitching is going to have to be on point. If this team goes south quickly, a lot of finger pointing will be thrown at Dipoto for his lack of moves in what was supposed to be a deep free agent market. He's missed on SS's in back to back years now. Seminen, Story, Bogaerts, Turner, etc. Eventually it will catch up with him.
That being said, I hope we keep adding infielders in the next draft along with restocking the pitching market. If only we had taken Sal Frelick at 12 instead if Harry Ford like I wanted. Then we'd potentially have our everyday LF. Ugh!

Wow. Looks like he might be what JK was supposed to be.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 3:13 pmLet's hope so. I know he was tinkering around with his 2-seamer last year. Sal Frelick, who is only nine months younger than Jarred Kelenic, was not facing MLB pitching in his age 21 and 22 seasons. SF 154 G, 731 PA, .331/.406/.477/.882
JK 289 G, 1288 PA, .295/.369/.540/.909
Their minor league wRC+ suggest that Frelick played in tougher hitting environments:

https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jarre ... osition=OF
The FanGraphs 2023 MLB projections have Frelick with 0.7 WAR and a wRC+ of 111 in 32 games and Kelenic with 1.4 WAR and a wRC+ of 106 in 109 games.
Frelick should surpass Kelenic’s stunningly low MLB floor-to-date but his ceiling may be a low-power, high-OBP outfielder.
Re: Reynolds requests a trade
That 92.7% jump from 55 to 106 in wRC+ by JK will be something else. Have to think that will break an all time record. Can't wait.

Re: Reynolds requests a trade
At some point Emerson Hancock, Bryce Miller, Taylor Dollard, Cade Marlowe, and Zach DeLoach could all potentially make the jump to the big leagues this year. I'd like to see us get at least another infielder through trade or free agency. Dylan Moore is going to be playing a lot at this rate. Same with Haggerty. Great guys to have on you're roster, but not everyday players.
Re: Reynolds requests a trade
I'd love to see the trade for Reynold's specifically so that I don't have to see a lot of Moore playing - the more he plays, no pun intended, the worse it is for our team.
Re: Reynolds requests a trade
It depends what Dylan Moore shows up.
Moore posted OPS+ of 87 in 2019, 138 in 2020, 71 in 2021 and 122 in 2022:

Trivia: In 2021 Moore posted an OPS+ of 71 in 377 plate appearances while Jarred Kelenic posted an OPS+ of 72 in 377 plate appearances:

Re: Reynolds requests a trade
Really nothing to do with Reynolds. Moore is expected to platoon with Wong which is actually a really nice platoon. Moore and Wong is a sig upgrade over Frazier and Toro so Jerry actually did his job at 2B.
