Bauer had a running rivalry with Houston during his days with the Cincinnati Reds, and then briefly with the Dodgers. He even wore cleats with garbage cans on them, hinting at Houston’s sign-stealing scandal.

But if he signs with the Astros he can just wear those same spikes. Cleats are football shoes.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 1:34 pmGuess Bauer is supposed to have a thing about the padres

Kinda interesting, the reason he won't get picked up is his unwillingness to be rehabilitated
."If you sign someone with that type of baggage," one agent noted, "you have to walk him through the reclamation tour. And I don't think he's coachable for that

That's the issue. He's got this enormous chip on his shoulder and he looks for conflict. It's really too bad. He's a smart guy and a great pitcher.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 8:37 pmKinda interesting, the reason he won't get picked up is his unwillingness to be rehabilitated

The #Dodgers DFA’d Trevor Bauer on Friday January 6. They then have seven days to trade him. The expiration for that is January 13.
I can report the #MNTwins have made contact.

Interesting article recently from the LA Times. The question they asked is whether Bauer would ever pitch again. On the one hand, the answer was a resounding "no".
The Times reached out to 16 front-office executives, most of them team presidents and general managers, to see whether they had any interest in signing Bauer... Of the 10 who responded, seven were a hard “no,” one said, “I doubt it,” and two declined to comment altogether, with one of those executives saying, “I’m not touching that topic.”
But then they qualified it a little saying that some team might be willing to pick him up cheaply and hope the fanbase doesn't revolt.
“He’s so affordable, I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody does sign him and weathers the storm for spring training and the first two weeks of the season and then hopes it kind of dies down,” said one GM who was granted anonymity to speak freely about the situation.
“Maybe it’s not spring training [that Bauer signs], maybe it’s May 1 or June 1, maybe it’s more strategically timed for a team to get out of spring training and avoid the early noise, but I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t play again.”

I would sign the fool subject to him undergoing electric-shock therapy.

I wonder if the O's would sign him. They'd still have the 2nd lowest payroll next to the A's.
