The Homeless Problem
The Homeless Problem
I thought we had a thread about the homeless situation, both in Seattle and other cities, but I couldn't find it so here's a new one I guess.
This article popped up in my feed today: https://komonews.com/news/local/seattle ... ge-campers

Re: The Homeless Problem
Let's face it, most of them are on
drugs. They don't care if they are
homeless. That's where we need
help to solve this mess.
And of course the border is bringing
in tons of drugs and the dealers.
Now even the Chinese are being
sent over here. Up to no good!!

It's gonna be interesting to see what Seattle does with the homeless when the World Cup comes to town in a few years.

Re: The Homeless Problem
Like the civil rights movement that turned into a welfare entitlement, the homeless (industrial complex) is a gravy train for the non profits.
Fix the problem ? The cities and counties are incapable. Inertia from their own regulations. Now its an accepted practice in every major US city.
We're so busy coddling, feeling guilty and assigning false blame, the inept in elected office have no course of direction.
Drugs ? Free needle programs. Organized crime.
Violence ? of course.
The cause ? Racism, climate change, and suburban lifestyles of course. See what I mean ?

Re: The Homeless Problem
You're seeing it right now in SODO ahead of the All-star game this summer. The work starts now and here's the plan.
1. Start a media buzz around fires at homeless encampments in Sodo and Mercer ramp
2. Start stating the need for billions of dollars to fix problem.
3. Remove camps in SODO and other tourist exposed areas while sweeping away the empathetic message used to create the problem to begin with under the rug
4. Let the problem sprawl further into the suburban communities and move the homeless empathetic message to this community.
5. Lobby for billions to fix the problem that won't actually fix the problem.
6. All-star game is played and then "homeless" move back
7. Problem remains ignored while politicians ask for billions
8. Voters still feel problem in their communities thanks tp politician's creation of problem.
9. World Cup is coming, push homeless legislation, clear camps
10. World Cup ends and legislation approved "homeless" funding goes to proframs that continue to fertilize the problem
No one should trust the government and politicans to fix a problem, especially a problem they've created. It's just a money opportunity for them. They don't care about these people or their problems, and their empathy is an obvious lie. They only care about controlling the public and it's money, and this shines through every council and legislative session.
Re: The Homeless Problem
Yeah, forgot about the AS Game. Which means we all look for RV's and tents packing the streets in all the suburbs except those towns that have laws prohibiting "camping out" in their neighborhoods and parks a lot sooner.

Re: The Homeless Problem
If you're a libertarian type there isn't a problem in the first place is there? What's up with trying to restrict where someone can live. If we are allowing rich ranchers to graze their cattle on public land in Montana, seems like we should be allowing poor people to camp on public land in Seattle. Just quit trying to pass laws about it and the problem is solved isn't it

This is an interesting analogy I hadn't thought of.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 5:52 amIf you're a libertarian type there isn't a problem in the first place is there? Following along on what you are describing as libertarian logic, we can then stop spending taxpayer money on the homeless problem.
And if you (a non-homeless person) feel threatened, hire private security. And if you don't like people camping on public land, buy your own private park.
Simple.

Re: The Homeless Problem
Ha! It's like you live in LA! This is exactly the playbook - and all the 'mayoral candidates" ran on that platform almost exclusively - it was predictable and hilarious. Don't forget the playbooks for war (OMG -the terrorism!), Pharma (um, better get vaxxed!), general embezzlement (OMG - Ukraine!), and that's just the short list off the of of my head. anyone rememebr when obama 'took out' the geriatric. dying bin laden and tried to spin it as some kind of 'big win' against terrorism? I could not stop laughing at the absurdity. Some crippled dying dude was "a threat to our safety."Cascade Kid wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 12:28 amYou're seeing it right now in SODO ahead of the All-star game this summer. The really interesting thing is that it seems like a ton of people are waking up and calling bullshit now - and so the 'distraction' incidents are becoming utterly laughable "OH MY GOD LOOK OVER THERE - A UFO!!!" With the proliferation of independent media that is calling BS on the corporate media narratives - and people are listening and ignoring the nonsense.
Is anyone seriously buying this stuff anymore? These manufactured incidents are so absurd - it's become insulting to any reasonable person's intelligence. They are running out of distractions - we have entered the 'jump the shark' phase of utter ridiculousness.
There was a time when a UFO incident would be monster news, a huge deal, now it's just Tuesday's intended distraction from the ruination of the country.
