Why do the Cubs' home games start half an hour later than every other East coast team's?

Not sure, but maybe because they are on the cusp of a time zone - just barely missing eastern time zone, and barely into central.

I used to live in New Brunswick (Canada), and as a kid I remember TV shows being advertised as 7 pm, or 7:30 in Newfoundland...basically a half hour ahead. Same sort of weird time zone jiggery - if you look at a map of Canada you can see how "out there" Newfoundland is.

Chicago is 983 miles from the East coast and is firmly in the Central time zone.

Would be like questioning why is Sheridan WY doesn't schedule events the same time as West Coast teams.

Yes Chicago is pretty far from the coast, but isn't it just inside the Eastern time zone?
