Just thought if the "Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are in an "arms race" to acquire" him it wouldn't have been simpler for one of them to have just offered the cards something for him, but I didn't think it through deeply

if you trade for Hopkins you take on that contract - and the salary cap hit. His cap hit was becoming cost prohibitive for a team in rebuild. Stacked teams like the Bills and Chiefs are probably unable to absorb his salary cap hit - thus could not trade for him without restructuring contracts, etc. I;m not sure what happens to his contract now - if it is voided since he was cut - but the preceding cap hit would seem to be the biggest hurdle - and for a guy who may be getting past his prime - a risky move. He'll land on the jets - everyone will call them SB contenders - and he will promptly have a season ending injury in week two, because, you know.... the Jets.

This entire thread has gotten a little confusing....with all the talk about hitting.

I also have to admit that I didnt' read the previous page, which probably explained this.
