Live coverage of the "arraignment" in Miami....

Folks. If the people in power can jail their political oponents there just is no Republic. Red, blue, purple. Doesn't matter.
Imho the country has been under seige already for a long time.
I say this with sadness and respect....
If you don't know what the FUCK is going on in this country by now I no longer feel sorry for you and refuse to explain it anyone anymore.
I do try to post interesting pics, tidbits I find and read about, but I leave the interpretation of such pretty much up to the reader.
Personally I refuse to debate anyone at this point. MSM is just there to confuse, manipulate, and distract.
God bless America including the Galactically ignorant. Prepare yourselves the best you can.
Whatever event(s) happen it's about 72 hours before animal.

I'd call it greater than zero, but I agree that other Republicans would stand a better chance against Biden. Republicans in the midterms selected several people in primaries who were not the optimal candidates in the general elections. So the beat goes on, I suppose.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 11:18 amHe officially now has negative infinity chance of winning in a General election. Republicans voting for him in the Primary are cutting off their nose to spite their face and are literally handing the worst POTUS in the history of the country (Biden) four more years if Trump is the Republican nominee.
I've been reluctant to join in the opinion that a large degree of Trump's support is "personal" (i.e., he can do no wrong, by definition) versus "political" (i.e., preferring his policies over those of other candidates). But I'm being swayed by what I see. First was the outpouring of support, denying the documents charges, even before they were unsealed. Second is the lack, from what I know, of any Trump supporter meaningfully addressing important details in the indictment, such as Trump willfully keeping documents away from government officials after he was asked for them.

Up next, Georgia, 3rd indictment?
Re: Trump has been Indicted
I find Tucker Carlson quite compelling to watch, and often I find myself nodding along. He is smart and effective and hints something almost primal.
But ... today I read what he said (rather than watched) and I'm not all that impressed with his logic or use of facts.
1. It seems that Carlson's major premise is that both Republicans and Democrats (i.e., the people in power, the media, etc. ... not the rank and file citizens) are joined together in a "don't criticize our wars" pact. Trump showed who he was in a February 2016 debate, according to Carlson, and then this ruling establishment (my words, not Carlson's) have been out to get Trump ever since. Therefore the indictment yesterday is the culmination of something 7 years in the making.
If that is true, why didn't Republicans in the Senate vote to convict Trump when he was impeached? And why did Attorney General William (Bill) Barr work so hard to deflect some of the conclusions of the Mueller Report that were not favorable to Trump? In other words, if "they" (Republicans included) have always been out to get Trump, why didn't they when they had the chance when he was in office?
2. Carlson turns to one of the seemingly standard pro-Trump talking points regarding the documents in question: Too much information is classified. That probably is true (sure seems to me from things I have read), but that doesn't address the specifics of the indictment: that some documents were VERY important to U.S. security.
3. This idea that people who turn on Trump over his actions were actually just sucking up to him to gain his favor. Yes I get it, there were a lot of high level officials who realized they needed to stroke Trump's ego while trying to manage him (looking at you Tillerson, Kelly, Bolton, Mattis).
This doesn't work (for me at least) to counter the viewpoint that we need to take seriously Trump's actions regarding the documents (or January 6 for that matter, or possible actions disputing election results in GA or AZ, for another). Carlson's' logic seems to be that anyone who once supported Trump and now is a critic of specific actions was a self-interested phoney. And that you shouldn't believe their current criticism.
Also, a bit ironic given some of the things that Carlson appears to have written about Trump, according to documents released as part of the discovery process in the Dominion versus Fox lawsuit. From January 4, 2021:
We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights ...I truly can't wait. ... I hate him passionately. ... That's the last four years. We're all pretending we've got a lot to show for it, because admitting what a disaster it's been is too tough to digest. But come on. There isn't really an upside to Trump. This country has gone to hell!
Watch what you say or do cause

Free country? Where?

If Trump can do no wrong in the eyes of his supporters, explain his role in the vaccines and his base being the only segment that didn't take it. That doesn't reconcile with your assertions and you know it.gil wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 10:07 pmI'd call it greater than zero, but I agree that other Republicans would stand a better chance against Biden. We know he's not infallible, but his policy is what I want done. Energy independence, secure borders, not pushing gays and trannies on people, mean tweets, zero wars, sign me up for all of that.
He didn't force lock downs, he left it up to the states.
And I understand he was handcuffed by fake scandals and fake impeachments throughout his first term.
I'm excited to see what he will do when he doesn't have to worry about winning another term.

I would need a 5 ton dump truck full of Popcorn to fully enjoy the complete melt down by left if Trump somehow won but I can't fathom how it is remotely possible at this point.bpj wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 7:37 pmIf Trump can do no wrong in the eyes of his supporters, explain his role in the vaccines and his base being the only segment that didn't take it.
