No surprise that a WR was waived since Seattle had 8 after the addition of Josh Gordon. Seahawks now with 7 WRs while adding a promising young player for depth on the OL.

The Seahawks have activated rookie guard Phil Haynes from the PUP list and waived WR Gary Jennings to make room on the 53-man roster.

Another 4th round pick WR. that couldn't cut it. Of course, he didn't get much of a chance.
Re: Jennings waived Haynes activated
Speaking of underperforming draft picks:
I admit I was all good with the Penny pick at the time but I knew Collier was a bust the second they drafted him.Q: What’s the deal with Rashaad Penny and L.J. Collier? Why aren’t they being given more of a chance or making more of an impact?
A: Certainly, the lack of much of anything of late from the team’s two most-recent first-round picks (Penny in 2018 and Collier in 2019) has been notable and eyebrow-raising — the two combined to play just 17 snaps Sunday.
With Penny, the answer here is pretty simple — Chris Carson is playing at a really high level (other than those darned fumbles) and there’s just been no real reason to take him out. There was a thought going into the year that Penny might emerge as the third-down/two-minute back, but Carson has shown he can handle that role, too — he has 24 receptions on 29 targets, each career highs.
Interestingly, Penny’s stats when he’s played are basically a mirror image of last year — he has 165 yards on 34 carries, 4.9 per attempt, which is the same average as his rookie season. And he’s turned in some big plays at key times such as the 37-yard TD at Pittsburgh and the 30-yard catch against the Rams.
But after a decent start to the season (80 yards on 16 carries in the first two games) Penny suffered a hamstring injury that held him out for a few weeks. With the way Carson is playing, I think it’s simply been hard for him to forge much of a role once he returned.
But, it obviously only takes one injury for Penny to suddenly be a starter. And assuring that the team had the depth it needed at tailback was one reason the Seahawks took Penny in 2018 following the injury-induced merry-go-rounds at that position from 2015-17. A first-round pick is admittedly a lot to spend on a security blanket. But for now, that’s pretty much what Penny is.
Unlike with Penny, who has one of the best players in the league standing directly in his way, there’s all sorts of opportunity for Collier to get on the field.
Players at his spot commonly rotate with three to four in a game capable of getting significant snaps, and Seattle can obviously use all the help on the defensive line it can get.
Despite that, Collier isn’t earning any significant playing time. He has played 18% of the snaps or fewer each of the past four games, with just 34 total snaps in that time, having been credited with just one tackle.
And recall that one of the reasons Seattle drafted Collier was the hope that he could contribute immediately — he just turned 24 and was a fulltime starter at TCU his last three seasons (where he spent five years total), so he doesn’t fit the mold of a developmental player who figured to need more time than usual to find his way.

Isn't it a little early to be calling Collier a bust?

I don’t think it is, not with a first round pick who plays a position of weakness for us. We have zero pass rush, and a guy playing DE taken in the first round can’t get on the field?
Penny is a bust too, but at no fault of his own. They just under value the guy they had. They could have gotten someone much later, or even just leaned on Davis and Prosise last year and used a later round pick on a backup this year.
Yes, hindsight is twenty twenty, but both are busts. We aren’t good enough to use first round picks for depth.

2018:
I was not good with the Penny Pick. I wanted Will Hernandez or Nick Chubb...
Hernandez has been only been just above average thus far... but still would have been at least a reliable starter at guard where we've been thin.
Imagine what a 1-2 punch the Hawks would have w/ Carson and Chubb. Dude has a near-elite RB grade... 803 yards 6 TD's.
Looking back... Braden Smith has been a stalwart at RT for the Colts who have the no. 1 rated OL in the league. He was picked 10 picks after Penny... would have been a nice upgrade over Ifedi.
Darius Leonard was picked one pick before Smith... he was a stud as a rookie but is going through a sophomore slump. Would have been nice to have him with KJ Wright's play/injuries over the last couple seasons.
Addressing our rush issues... Harold Landry was a sack monster at Boston College and has a plus grade in his 2nd season... 6 sacks, 9 TFL's and 23 total total tackles. This would have also been a nice pick... but hindsight ugh. He was picked 14 picks after Penny.
2019:
Regarding the Collier selection... oddly, nobody picked around Collier has been all that special so far. Theres been a couple players who were selected in the top 20... also Josh Jacobs who has been elite... but we weren't going RB and we weren't going to pick there. You have to go into the middle 2nd round to start finding quality players in their rookie campaigns.
When we were at the 21st pick... I had the Hawks taking Dexter Lawrence... he's received a near-elite grade for the Giants. Unfortunately he went 18th and the Hawks traded back after he was taken.
I was mocking the Hawks to pick Byron Murphy when they traded for the 27th pick. Byron, although close to my heart, has really struggled in his rookie campaign. He's allowing 63% of passes to be completed and has no picks.
Greg Little might have been a nice pick at tackle... he had a 1st round grade and fell to the 2nd... has a high grade this season... again, would have been nice insurance knowing Ifedi is gone at RT after this season.
Eric McCoy and Elgton Jenkins would have been good picks at center... again knowing Britt is likely done after this year... might have been wise to select a new center.
That said, Marquise Blair looks like the best pick of the second round next to Eric McCoy. Then you have DK Metcalf which is a clear steal. The Hawks got some DUDES in the second round of this draft.
To me... the 2018 Penny pick really fkn hurts knowing what was picked behind him.

Interesting assessment. Penny is a better football player than Collier but given the opportunity cost he was probably the more problematic pick.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 1:29 am2018:

On the other hand the fact that we have no pass rush makes Collier more of a nightmare.

I seems like we have enough talent on defense, they just need to play better. Injuries and Reed’s suspension have slowed down the D meshing, but I expected more improvement by now.
I’m still expecting the D to improve, but I am not as optimistic as before.
