Re: Kelenic not on the field for the celebration
JK probably gets until July to prove he belongs as a major league player.
If Marlowe is starting right field we have an even bigger ownership / money problem.
I'm betting Ty France and Geno stay.
Teo. See ya!
Who fills 2nd base...I bet Rojas / Moore. Good God.
Where does offense come from when Julio is daydreaming about his girlfriend???
We either aquire proven veteran bats via free agency or trading some of our pitching or 2024'25 season becomes another step back/ worse.

There would be a much bigger sample to use if Kelenic and his .650 OPS wasn't always on a pedestal in their way.
Take out Kelenics April and his numbers perfectly align with his career numbers. Trash.
He'll never "learn" to hit an offspeed pitch.
In April Kelenic got ~45% fastballs. He finished the season at 25%, so from May-September they only threw him about 20% fastballs because they know exactly how to get him out.
Re: Kelenic not on the field for the celebration
Speaking of using 100 PA samples...
Kelenics numbers:
Career OPS (974 Plate Appearances): .656
May-Sept '23 OPS (315 Plate Appearances): .670 OPS
April '23 (101 PA's): .982 OPS
0.2 fWAR in 315 PA's from May-Sept. That's a 0.4 WAR/600 rate.
Pretty obvious what Kelenic is at this point, he's never going to see a steady diet of fastballs again.

I'm not going to go on part of a season. Take look at Marlowe's Tacoma 2023 numbers. His OPS was .781, his OPS in TMobile is .751. when was the last time an M's player had only a .030 drop from Tacoma to Safeco/TMobile in the same season?bpj wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 6:55 pmThere would be a much bigger sample to use if Kelenic and his .650 OPS wasn't always on a pedestal in their way.

It's not an argument for Marlowe as much as it's an argument for anyone but Kelenic.ice99 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 11:04 pmI'm not going to go on part of a season. Don't have to go by a part of a season when we have a career of almost 1,000 plate appearances with a .656 OPS and an OPS of .670 in his last four months of play. That's 800 out of 900 plate appearances in his career that he's been terrible.
He's a turd. Move on. Even if its someone they're not sure about. They've wasted 4 years on Kelenic.

Would love to get M. Conforto in here. He'd be a nice potential rebound candidate. Unfortunately he's a lefty. They'll probably need to find another RH power bat for the middle of the order.seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 5:20 pmJK probably gets until July to prove he belongs as a major league player.

Re: Kelenic not on the field for the celebration
All I'm saying is that he'll do better than Marlowe. The 416 PA this year is a reasonable sample size. It's likely that he's improved. I wouldn't be opposed to trading Kelenic, but if they do, they need to get someone better. Not like getting Wong to play over Moore/Haggerty/Callabero.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 11:19 pmIt's not an argument for Marlowe as much as it's an argument for anyone but Kelenic.ice99 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 11:04 pmI'm not going to go on part of a season. And I disagree. Marlowe outperformed him. Even his down month was better than Kelenics down months.ice99 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 12:23 amAll I'm saying is that he'll do better than Marlowe. If they don't go with a new acquisition, they shouldn't pencil Kelenic in a starting spot.
Re: Kelenic not on the field for the celebration
I disagree with that, it's too small of a sample size. Besides, given the differences in minor leagues, Kelenic has more upside.bpj wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 2:24 amAnd I disagree.
