Based on how John operates. I would take a hard pass on spending the next 10 yrs in one player I know it’s not us but we would be fucked if it was with a budget of shit sticks if we signed him.

This guy thinks Verdugo takes them out of the Soto sweepstakesD-train wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 8:36 pmSays it is likely. Not a done deal. Not a big deal but lets wait for final confirmation. Thanks.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 6:02 pmSoto to the Yanks.
Trade apparently involves Michael King and Drew Thorpe and more... according to the MLBTV site... a massive overpay by the Yanks with just those 2 players.
For Yankees fans who have been following the sound and fury around a Soto trade in the last week, acquiring Verdugo almost feels like a joke played by Brian Cashman. “Oh, you wanted to improve our offense and get us some more left-handed hitting? Here you go! I did exactly what you asked for!” It’s not so different than your parents telling you that you don’t need to buy Lucky Charms at the grocery store because you have some at home, only to see a box of Generically Fortunate Oat-Shapes in the pantry when you run inside to check/

If they don't get Soto a lot of National writers will look pretty dumb. For Yankees fans who have been following the sound and fury around a Soto trade in the last week, acquiring Verdugo almost feels like a joke played by Brian Cashman. “Oh, you wanted to improve our offense and get us some more left-handed hitting? Yeah, and Trent Grisham. How many outfielders do they need
Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets that even after the Yankees’ acquisition of Verdugo, Grisham is still involved in the current iteration of talks between New York and San Diego. He’d be used as a fourth outfielder and late-inning defensive upgrade. His projected $4.9MM salary is a bit steep for that role, particularly when factoring in the associated luxury tax implications, but the Yankees don’t seem too concerned with club payroll at present.

As recently as?
Guess he was hitting 98 mph this winterThe Kansas City Royals have signed former Seattle Mariners reliever Dan Altavilla to a minor league contract. The 31-year-old flamethrower has battled injuries over the last few years but was a useful reliever for Seattle as recently as 2018

Jerry resigned from the Angels. I wonder if the past two months made to look a fool for the 2nd straight off season might break him.

Well - now it seems official Juan Soto and Trent Grisham to the Yanks. They have one stupidly stacked outfield.

Yankees can just flip Verdugo somewhere else if they don't want him.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 9:44 pmThis guy thinks Verdugo takes them out of the Soto sweepstakesD-train wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 8:36 pmSays it is likely. I've wondered about that. It probably comes down to his relationship with his bosses. He has plenty of money and I'm sure he could get some sort of front office job somewhere else if he wanted it, and probably would be on the GM shortlist for a lot of franchises. But what looks to us on the outside as a terrible situation may not be on a day to day basis for him as an employee.
