Believe it or not the current WAR projections for us are pretty favorable. 37.8. Add 7.5 to that and we are at 45.2. Replacement players are expected to win 48 games so 48+45 = 93 Wins

https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.a ... &teamid=11
FWIW FanGraphs and Steamer project Spencer Steer, Mike Ford and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. with a combined 2024 WAR of 3.0, not 7.5
LOL

So they are going to go from 7.5 WAR (projecting Ford to 600 PAs) in 2023 to 3 WAR in 2024. lol Sure Jan.

There's a simple solution to all of this.

FWIW Steamer600 projects Bryan Woo and Emerson Hancock with 2024 WAR of 2.6 and a negative 0.4 in 200 innings, respectively.

https://www.fangraphs.com/projections?p ... g=&team=11

That should impact the proposal to swap out Woo for Hancock.

.860 home

.749 away

It's amazing that Reds players almost never have better away splits. Winker couldn't hit a baseball the second he left Cinci.

I'm not really all that interested in Jorge Soler. The reporting suggests it would take a 3-year deal and to me that's the wrong move right now. Given where they are, and especially with the uncertainty around payroll, the Mariners should be in the business of acquiring appreciating assets, and Soler, going into his age 32 season, is the opposite of that.

I think if the available payroll is as limited as the reporting suggests, then going after Randy Arozarena in a trade would make a lot more sense.

Steer is .835 on the Road.

CES destroyed minor league pitching and is only 23.

Soler had a career year, his first good year since 2019 and somehow only put up 1.8 WAR. He is an older Teo with even worse D. Would be an awful addition even as a secondary or tertiary piece.

Those "dozen good bats" had the advantage of hitting in the Great American Ball Park and in the National League Central.

This year the Cincinnati Reds posted a league- and park-adjusted team OPS+ of 99 while the Mariners posted a team OPS+ of 106 (before losing Teoscar Hernandez [106], Eugenio Suarez [101] and Jarred Kelenic [109]).

Note the projected 2024 wRC+ for Seattle hitters and Cincinnati hitters:
