I think it has to do with the Big 12. They went from the Big 8 to the Big 12. The Big Ten wanted to stay with tradition.

Sure, the PAC 12 could have been the PAC 8. An eighteen team conference called the Big Ten is my kind of conference.

Yes.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 3:16 pmPeople are saying it's going to happen.
You're saying why wasn't wassu and Oregon st. added? With Oregon and Washington now joining with UCLA and USC in 2024, that could make things a little messier. My focus isn’t even on 2024, though. I am thinking about when the Big Ten is going to add teams No. 19 and No. 20.
My guess is, the two teams that get the Big Ten to 20 programs will come from the ACC. If I had to guess, I would say it is going to be Clemson and Florida State.
I like how they keep calling it the Big Ten

That is what I am saying. With 2 ten team divisions it would have been the BIG10X2. Cool.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 3:48 pmSure, the PAC 12 could have been the PAC 8. An eighteen team conference called the Big Ten is my kind of conference.

My point is, I think the Big 10 is pretty pretentious. That said? I coach in the Big 9. We have had 7 teams since before I started coaching in 2012!
