its the last three years that they haven't had their first pick play yet. McDowell was a freak accident, so that leaves Penny and Collier, if that is a baffling trend ok, its a baffling trend. You go back to the picks before that, you have Okung, ET, Irvin, Ifedi...I do not see any baffling trends there

I definitely like the idea of taking a highly touted guy that has fallen vs. a guy nobody has heard of in the first round.

I am not talking about top half of the first round picks a decade ago.

In the past four drafts our first pick has been:

Ifedi - below average OL
McDowell - Inmate
Penny - 3 carries a game guy
Collier - in street clothes on the sidelines during games guy

In the past four drafts our 5-7th round picks have produced:

Carson starting RB and one of top 5 RBs in the NFL
Tre Flowers starting CB
Quinten Jefferson starting DL
David Moore #4 WR
Michael Dickson Punter
Jacob Martin who turned into Clowney starting DL
Joey Hunt current starting Center
BBK special teams
Jamarco Jones - filled in a starter to rave reviews
Griffin - new pass rusher

But yeah TOTALLY normal draft results right there.

normal?...I think Ifedi was a reasonable draft pick, the issues there were probably as much Cable as anything. You have McDowell, Penny, and Collier, but its hard for me to see a ATV accident as part of a trend. It really comes down to Collier and Penny, you could make an argument to a similarity there perhaps, other than that I am not seeing it...

kind of an interesting look at Ifedi, that second season, the wheels just totally came off.

McDowell is part of the trend not for the ATV accident but because when was picked everyone said who the F is this guy.

btw late 132nd overall 4th round 2019 pick is now officially the starter at nickel.

who the f is this guy?...
He was ranked the top defensive tackle available in the draft by ESPN and NFL analyst Bucky Brooks, the second best defensive tackle by Sports Illustrated and Pro Football Focus, and was ranked the third best interior defensive lineman by NFL media analyst Mike Mayock

This made me laugh:
DRAFT PROJECTION Round 1
SOURCES TELL US "He has a chance to be a dominant player in our league. I mean dominant. It hasn't turned on for him all the way yet but if it does, he could be like Mario Williams. He's just a little lazy and I worry about whether he is going to be a self-starter." -- NFC North area scout

Maybe they did try to adapt and went too safe with Collier.

if he would have just turned out to be lazy, fine, i could have accepted that, you roll the dice...but to have never gotten a chance to watch him play a down...that to me is too crazy, and for him too. I honestly feel sorry for the guy, he is 23 and its got to feel like your life is over

to me its like the stinking SB play...too crazy
