When I signed that contract, I’m loyal,” Trout said. “I want to win a championship here. The overall picture of winning a championship or getting to the playoffs here is bigger satisfaction than bailing out and just taking the easy way out. So I think that’s been my mindset. Maybe down the road, if some things change, but that’s been my mindset ever since the trade speculation came up.”

Saw that. Good for him. Not happening this season though.

Wishy washy.

He has a full no trade clause (as I understand it). So the Halos can't trade him even if they wanted to.

Problem is he is 32 right now. If he waited one or two more seasons, he'd be 34 - well past his prime. He is also super injury prone. And he's owed $35MM every year for the next 7 years. He's an albatross. And he will retire without winning a World Series.

He should jump ship right now. Literally. Demand to be traded. He doesn't owe the Angels anything. No one will want him in 2 years when he realizes he wants to win more than he wants to play it out with the Halos.

Hopefully he can recover from those gunshot wounds in time to get some more AAA at-bats this season.

He might just not care that much. I'm sure he's comfortable in Socal.

Yes. He's crying all the way to the bank.

But he's also a competitor. Most pro athletes aren't content to just play ball for a losing team for the last 10 years of their careers. Winning and competing are in their DNA. He said as much - "I want to win championships."

The problem is, what he says and what he does are 2 different things. He has to know that the Angels aren't going to be competitive in his tenure. And since he has a no trade clause, they can't get rid of him unless he wants to be traded. And Trout can't carry the entire franchise on his shoulders. So either he plays his nuts off for the Angels hoping for a miracle, or he wises up and asks to be traded to a team that has a chance of winning their division.

I just can't believe he's happy shagging fly balls and cashing his checks.

That's what he's talking about, asking for a trade. I can see his point. What's important to him is winning a WS with the Angels, just winning a WS isn't what's most important.

How I read it is winning a WS isn't what's important, it's winning one with the Angels that makes it important
