Re: Free Agency thread
A 31 year old run stuffer. Hopefully he can play another 3 years.

He hasn't been good against the run in years...
https://12thmanrising.com/posts/latest- ... hs4a0adddwAccording to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), Hankins has a run defense grade of 49.9 or lower in each of the last three years. That would indicate that the one reason Hankins should be playing in the NFL - stopping the run - he is not very good at it anymore. He used to excel at stuffing the run but hasn't been quite as efficient since 2017.

But he's got the young Uber coach now. The defense is going to be impregnable
Re: Free Agency thread
I like the quiet and methodical way they have been doing things since PC got canned. They conducted a long due diligence search and patience to get the coach they ultimately wanted, then built an entirely new staff with a mix of respected veteran coaches and rising star coaches.
They cut loose the right vets to create cap space without making this look like a coaching upheaval rebuild (aka Broncos, Denver). Signed Williams, kept Tyler. Traded for Howell for basically a third-round pick, 23, with a full season of starts in Hell D.C. Then targeted specific other areas in FA on both sides of the ball, without the big must-have coveted signings like Queen and others. They are signing players -- especially on D who can fill multiple slots in different situations and schemes to confuse offenses. And maybe who are hungry for a place like Seattle, who are a Jody-mission to get back in the playoff run. They've created a lot of competition to sort out, and they've pulled all this together in a fairly brief period since PC the legend is no more.
As a VMAC friend said, "The King is Dead. Long Live the King."
I think we've done pretty well so far, with likely more Schneider cagey moves to follow into the draft. I put $100 on them this year at the sportsbook, wtf, we've got a shot, at least in March!

It's a rebuild year, no doubt about it, IMO. These signings seem to indicate that to me. They aren't signing trash, but they aren't going after anything long term or expensive. I think MacDonald is more than likely shocked at the roster construction. A team that's salary cap was eaten up by three Safeties and two WRs is ridiculous. Two rather high-profile defensive players being inside LBs that aren't very good in coverage. A QB that no one else wants. A mediocre interior O Line and two RBs that are completely misused. It's not going to get fixed over night!
Re: Free Agency thread
That has been my feeling as well. His primary goal is to win a SB in the next few years not have a PC style sneak into the 2024 playoffs and then show up and throw up once we get there.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 3:54 pmIt's a rebuild year, no doubt about it, IMO. I'll bet he was perplexed with Dissly's contract as well.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 3:54 pmI think MacDonald is more than likely shocked at the roster construction. A team that's salary cap was eaten up by three Safeties and two WRs is ridiculous.

This is nothing new to us, but I think it's important to remember that Carroll had final say on everything football in SEA. So even if Schneider disagreed with some of the personnel decisions, he couldn't do anything about it.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 3:54 pmIt's a rebuild year, no doubt about it, IMO. Fast forward... This is all Schneider now, and he is doing some spring cleaning while slowly restocking the cupboard. The draft should be interesting.
And you're right... it won't be fixed overnight.
Re: Free Agency thread
Drafting more RB's in the 1st and 2nd Round?? Just no more high draft picks of RB's please. Rather do that with OL or DL. NO MORE High picks of RBs.douche wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 6:15 pmThis is nothing new to us, but I think it's important to remember that Carroll had final say on everything football in SEA. We'll see, but I'm not sold that this is a rebuild. To me this is an immediate retooling to stop sucking in the NFC West this year and improve on 9-8.
