Re: Mystery Solved: We're Going For The Record
Interestingly, none of these came with Edgar as the hitting coach.
I firmly believe our hitting coaches are to blame for the majority of our offensive impotence. Jarret deHart is our hitting coach. Three of the fours years he has been the coach (2020-2024) we started with 9+ strikeout games.
Good hitters go bad when they come to T-Mobile and it’s not just park dimensions or a heavy mariner layer. Guys like Teo and Geno come here, languish, and then move on to continue their pre-Mariner success.
We need a new hitting coach. I have been saying this for years, and it’s never been more true. Jarrett has got to go. If our guys played 6 games and the opposing teams are throwing mostly off speed pitches and we are striking out at record rates, then (a) other teams have figured out our crafty offensive plan to expect nothing but fastballs, (b) our pitching coaches are apparently not adjusting.
It’s not just that the Mariners are stingy and don’t go get talented hitters, and it’s not just that talented FA hitters don’t want to come to Seattle - it’s that talented hitters are badly coached when they get here, AND there’s zero accountability. Five years with same guys dispensing hitting advice to lackluster results? Heads should be rolling.
In my opinion, of course.
Then again, we’re only 6 games in. Maybe I’m being to Chicken Little here. But damn, it’s been hard to watch these guys strikeout, and strand RISP.

Boggles my mind how that guy still has a job. Most teams go through hitting coaches like paper towels and we keep that guy around like we have been the best hitting team in baseball the entire decade.Big_Maple wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 3:57 pmInterestingly, none of these came with Edgar as the hitting coach.

Dipoto hand picks the guys.
Re: Mystery Solved: We're Going For The Record
only 8 K's in today's debacle of a shitshow game to break the pathetic lack-of-hitting streak... they can't even do this right...
