Where does he call him a prospect?D-train wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 12:16 pmIs France still considered a prospect though? lolDonn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 10:32 amLittle more optimistic picture of france from LL if you look at his underlying numbers, of course I have no idea what they are talking about
https://www.lookoutlanding.com/2024/4/2 ... et-to-come. In the above image we can see his rolling xwOBA over the last one hundred plate appearances, with the data points being the start of the season, and his last time to the plate in Saturday’s game. Again, France is sticking to the process, and whatever the results, the underlying data shows he is performing with the best in the league, and among the unluckiest so far of the everyday players. His .160 point gulf between his SLG actual and xSLG is the ninth largest such difference in the league among players with at least fifty plate appearances. The .063 difference between his wOBA and xWOBA would rank as the 24th with the same qualifications, and out of 218 qualified players.

Well this is the Prospect thread. I now see you were replying to SOBs mention of France. That's why it is always good to quote reply so your posts don't seem like non-sequiturs..

Oh, okay, I might have put the O'neil comment here as well
Re: 2024 Prospects thread
Problem with France is his D now also sucks. And he is slow. He no longer seems like a viable MLB player.

Suisbel started on fire, but has cooled off. Still pretty good numbers. Not super high on him as a prospect, but could be a dark horse
Arroyo doing well. Hit a HR tonight.273/.832. I like him as a possible 2B or UT in a few years
Aiden Smith doing well .275/.893 probably the least talked about of all the HS hitters drafted last year, but outperforming most of them
Izzi with a great start.5 scoreless, 6 K, ERA at 2.25.
Emerson must be hurt almost 2 weeks since he played.
Farmelo, Peete and Montes all doing OK, but nothing remarkable early in the season numbers wise.
Gough also with a good start 2.57 ERA
Anyone know what’s up with Walter ford?
Brayan Perez is in the bullpen, looks good so far. Michael Limoncelli has pitched 2 innings. He was drafted forever ago, had Tj right before the draft iirc

Re: 2024 Prospects thread
I really do not care about advanced stats if they don't produce results.
Luis Arraez was bottom 29% in exit velocity, bottom 6% in barrel rate, bottom 3% in hard hit rate... yet he had a .354/.393/.469/.861 slash.
It is a skill in baseball to hit the ball where defenders aren't. It's a skill that doesn't get discussed enough these days as hard hit rate is supposed to be some vast indicator of success. Good hitters know how to take pitches to different places on the field.
It's a skill Ty France actually used to have... which is why he still put up OPS's near .800 despite being bottom 30% in the categories I mentioned in his early seasons.

Re: 2024 Prospects thread
For France to be viable, he has to be .270/.360/.400 hitter and league average defender at the very worst.
He's not close to either of those things.
Re: 2024 Prospects thread
France has the same WAR as Garver in about the same PAs. Garver, a DH hitting a buck fifty. Try to wrap your head around that....

Colt Emerson, who was drafted in the first-round by the Seattle Mariners in 2023, has hit the injured list with an oblique issue. He was off to a torrid start, hitting .318 for Single-A Modesto.

They have to juice baseballs again.
The median team OPS in baseball right now is .687. In the 2019 the league average OPS was .758... just 3 teams are currently above .758 in the early going of 2024.
Why does MLB hate fun?
