So are the Mariners really doing better with the bats now or have they just been facing weaker pitching? I find it hard to believe they all figured something out and are going to average 5-6 runs the rest of the way.

Probably a bit of both. But if you recall they absolutely sucked vs. terrible SPs for the first two months.

Can both be true?
No team is going to play all 162 against the All Star class of pitchers for that campaign. And isn't at all possible that over 162 the hitters will normalize to their career norms? That they will begini to settle in, figure out what works and what doesn't, find some luck along the way? That's what 162 games does. 650 PAs. Thats what's going to happen.

So happy about this 10 game lead. Why? Jerry and Justin don't need to rush! There's zero need to make an ill-advised, fan/media forced trade move.

Just sit back, watch the roster you've constructed do its thing and then see where the REAL needs are on July 30th

Not sure how they are favored to win based on those ERAs.

Really was a stupid plan to sign a Catcher and only have him DH and they trade for the worst BU catcher in baseball literally wasting a roster spot.

. “It’s funny. Throughout my whole career I never put as much emphasis on my catching as I do now,” Garver said. “I always used to be a bat-first catcher, and now when I am catching the hitting is so secondary to me. My at-bats are what they are, I just go up there and try to do something. Really my priority is taking care of the pitchers. For the first time in my career, I feel like that has flipped, which is kind of strange.”

The work behind the plate was perhaps a very needed distraction from what he did at the plate.

“It’s more important to take care of those guys,” Garver said. “It’s something I did in the past, but not to the level I am doing now. I’m putting a lot of emphasis on trying to be creative with them in between innings, a lot of communication, a lot of changing up approaches if we need to in the game, a lot of strategy during the game.”
