Woot! I like the way you think. How does it work with cap space if the Hawks manage to sign him to a contract that is a few million less guaranteed than the 13M (that no one wants to pay), but loaded with incentives? How do incentives figure into the cap?ThePro wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 11:35 pmGerald McCoy released... Go Hawks

Re: Additions
Incentives count against the cap . Why a contract loaded with incentives? He got released because Bucs have cap issues not for performance. McCoy could get 13 mil/yr easy. Seahawks are well under the cap.maoling wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 1:43 amWoot! I like the way you think. Re: Additions
Likely chemistry more an issue than dollars. Like McCoy as a player, but the rep on him is he's another "personality" who brings it in games but not so much in practice. Prolly a little too close to the Bennetts and Shermans of the world for Carroll's liking now with all the young hungry up-and-comers on D. As contrasted to Ziggy who's a focused high motor guy.

Comparing McCoy to Bennett and Sherman? Don't get that at all.57reasons wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 5:31 amLikely chemistry more an issue than dollars. Re: Additions
any updates on McCoy's destination? he'd be a great pickup for a price - maybe $5 - $7 mill on a one year deal? That line would be looking suddenly very formidable. Just the fact they have the cap room to even consider it is another master stroke by JS.
Re: Additions
He was just released yesterday. Nothing yet. I don't think a one year deal will get it done. Probably a multi year deal and an outbid of other teams to get him here. Hawks have space to do something like that.

Re: Additions
I would maybe cap it at 9 mil/year. You know he wants to play for a contender & I just don't see that in Indy or Cleveland, at least yet.
