This is all about Randy Meisner.

A band in perpetual turmoil, yet also in perfect harmony. The rare combination that work with amazing results, but also works to it's own demise.
If you've read Don Felder's Heaven and Hell book you know. But you haven't. Incredible insight.

John Mayall played a small venue in Minneapolis 2012. The same evening featured Peter Green and some backup. Green was in a fragile state but seemed happy to be playing. Mayall was exceptional, especially for his age. Many familiars. He set up and took down his own drums. Signed autographs, all.
Yes, Mayall promoted a number of famous musicians. The Bluesbrakers started many. You know who they are. But John never left his roots.

A double shot for the masses

In 1981 two of the greatest rock albums ever, IMO, were released. Don't Say No thrust Billy Squire into the metaverse to because the latest sensation. Saw him open for Queen in one of the best live performances I've ever seen. My Kinda Lover is an absolute burner on that album. Squire put out another album or two of note, but quietly faded away - but this album, oh my, this was solid from top to bottom.

The second album released that year was Def Leppard's High N Dry, an absolute motherfucker of a album. Top to bottom - an underrated masterpiece of youth, whiskey and testosterone. Saw them open for Judas fucking Priest, thank you very much. Jesus, my ears are still ringing. Man, they were never the same after this record - they started pouring sugar on it and got the cover of teen beat. Good for them. Go relive some youth with this beast from 1981; Camaros, Chevelles laying rubber all over Edmonds, and the title track off High N Dry - an absolute scorcher.

I've always liked Billy Squier's sound. And I think he has a great (distinctive) voice.

Leppard... well, the Hysteria album threw them right into the mainstream. Of course, most artists don't get to chart their own path. And the music changed a bit after Rick Allen lost an arm.
