Do you think they'll move on from JP?D-train wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:02 pmShould be Robles and Julio Every Day in LF and CF. I cannot believe believe people are locking in Randy over Raley and Robles. Luke can't hit lefties so he is probably on the bench vs. them but he can play OF/1B vs RHPs and maybe Locklear at the RH 1B vs. LHPs.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:30 amNot really. DIlly is a fine back-up. And with the fact that Robles, Julio and Raley could all play CF makes it silly. And of course you could put either Raley or Rojas out there. And there is always the farm. There are usually a few guys that get called up and have at least some short-term success: Marlow, Ford, Rivas, Bliss, Taylor, Caballero, Haggerty, etc are all guys who I really wasn't thinking like I was about Julio/Gilbert/Cal/Kirby/Brash who had the hype.
Rojas should be nowhere near this roster next season. Need a DH a 2B a SS and a 3B. Four major holes in year 7 of the rebuild and Jerry still has a job.
I have a question about next year.

It is absurd on multiple levels especially give the fact that we don't have a 1B going into next season.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 4:46 pmI'm going to go out on a limb and say Luke Raley will not be playing 3B any time soon.

No, but they should. Imagine how nice it would be to root for an org that bases decisions on how best to get to the WS vs. who is the cool fan fav and how much money they are making.bpj wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 6:00 pmDo you think they'll move on from JP?D-train wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 5:02 pmShould be Robles and Julio Every Day in LF and CF. The problem is... who would take him at this juncture? It's not like the M's would get anything meaningful back.D-train wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 6:28 pmNo, but they should. He's making $23 million over the next 2 years.
The M's basically have to bank on him returning to being like a .250/.350/.350 with some defensive value. It's the hole they've dug for themselves.
Re: I have a question about next year.
Yeah, I think they would be better off without JP also. Wrong side of 30 now.
I just don't think they'll do anything about it based on their history.
Probably about as likely as signing Soto or moving Raley to 3B.
I think there are probably some interesting trades to be had out there where some guys could be bundled though, so you never know.

I think JP could get moved. Dodgers are a likely fit. There won't be much of a return but the Dodgers need to stabilize that position and so I think they would probably take on the salary.

How about JP for Ohtani! Oh right, we have JD and not the Dodgers.

The mariners aren't making that trade even if it was offered
