Sataoa Laumea started training camp as a right guard but saw plenty of preseason playing time at left guard. The sixth-round rookie is listed as Laken Tomlinson’s backup, but keep in mind that fellow rookie Christian Haynes has also been a left guard.

Re: Injury Report
I'm aware of that. My point is that he can play tackle as can Sundell, so they already have 4 guys that can back up Cross and Forsythe.

Re: Injury Report
If hes not listed on the depth chart as a tackle then they aren't playing him at tackle... But what if they did, why are you against looking at additional depth at tackle?

Re: Injury Report
Peters had a 53.9 PFF last year and is now a year older. So if they're talking to him what does that say about how they regard their current backup tackles? If they want him here to mentor some younger guys why not hire him as an assistant coach to Scott Huff?

When I look at the injury report on seahawks.com I'm greeted with this. Well, at least we're now aware of Detroit's injuries.

Re: Injury Report
Forsythe is supposedly improving
Forsythe earned season-high grades in overall offense (73.1) and pass-blocking (77.0) from PFF. The latter grade, while not a statistic, was a single-game career-high for the fourth-year lineman. He also showed significant improvement in paving rushing lanes for Zach Charbonnet.
“I think the film kind of speaks for itself. We talked about how he started out in Denver, and then I think since then, you’ve just seen a steady improvement,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said on Wednesday. “If we can get that from our whole football team, we’re cooking. So he’s right there. He’s worked tremendously hard. I think he’s improved tremendously, and we’ve got a lot of confidence in him.”

Misunderstood you. You are correct, that is a bit strange.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 4:49 pmSo, if Laumea and Jerrell aren't ready why aren't they on the practice squad?Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 3:59 pmDon’t you think that is a big objective of the practice squad? Guys you see a future for but might not be ready now? I don’t think it is always just a minor league system where you bring guys up when needed. Otherwise, why would guys like Kareem Hunt and Dalvin Cook get signed during or right before the season? Wouldn’t the team have just had a player ready on the practice squad already?Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 2:50 pmThat's ridiculous. They wouldn't be on the roster if they weren't NFL caliber. What i'm questioning is the decision to use roster spots on players that they apparently have no intention of putting on the field rather than putting them on the practice squad. They must really believe that guys like Jerrell and Laumea have massive developmental potential and losing them would be a severe blow to their future plans.

Re: Injury Report
Putting them on the practice squad requires releasing them, they didn't want to do that.
Laumea is playing left guard, he played on the right side in college. One would assume they are bringing him along slowly.
I think it was considered a bit surprising that Jewell was put on the active roster.
Does it seem like they were counting on getting Lucas back?

They are facing having young inexperienced players now as reserve. i don't have a problem with them trying to rectify that. This goes back to how JS builds a roster. He tends towards a young cheap offensive line. Hopefully with Forsythe looking better it won't be as big an issue.Like any NFL draft pick vaulting from a Division II program to the NFL, Jerrell will have plenty of welcome to the league moments once the pads come on in August when he's tasked with trying to block the likes of Uchenna Nwosu, Boye Mafe, and others on the practice field. As a late round pick, the Seahawks should expect such growing pains as he tries to navigate the rough waters early, and in an ideal situation, they would be afforded the chance to "redshirt" him on the practice squad for a year and that probably is the most likely scenario at this stage.

Re: Injury Report
It just seems to me that having a developmental guy like Jerrell and three centers on the 53 man is using roster space imprudently, especially as injuries at other positions like DT, LB, and RB start to pile up.

Re: Injury Report
Sure, and there's performance issues. Forsythe had been shaky and it looks like Lucas isn't going to be ready anytime soon. There were a series of decisions that got themselves here. You're going to carry a certain number of linemen on the roster, they didn't have other options did they?
I think it begins with JS not wanting to invest a lot in the offensive line. This is the sort of thing Pete got blamed for, Pete's gone. I think looking at Peters is a reasonable way to try to get some help if they decide that
