Not injury news but it seems like the f-d up drafting Haynes. This indicates that at 317 lbs. he isn't powerful enough... :| :? Sticking with Bradford who has been horrible.

Gee, and I thought Haynes was supposed to have been a steal in round three, that's why JS waited until the third round to address the offensive line. And I don't think Pete demanded that he draft him but who knows.

I'll bring up Smith's column from pre season, though I don't think JSs seat is particularly warm, but I think he read the situation pretty accurately
But as evidenced by his comments and roster moves this offseason thus far, Schneider isn't changing his beliefs on the value of guards and based on previous track record, it won't be surprising if he bypasses picking a blue chip prospect such as Powers-Johnson in the first round. Instead, he will wait until a later round to address the situation, banking on a new coaching staff making the most of the talent provided to them from the bargain bin, including Bradford, Anchrum, and whoever comes in via the draft to compete.

Now in full control of personnel decisions after the departure of Carroll, if he doesn't select a guard early or picks one that can't immediately make an impact in the starting lineup, a neglected offensive line could once again hamper the Seahawks in Macdonald's first season on the sideline. By choosing to stick to his guns and not making adjustments to how he allocates resources to the line of scrimmage, Schneider may feel his cozy seat become a lot hotter in quick fashion.

Should be able to get a pretty good guard in the 3rd round. Did they pick the wrong one?

Yeah, maybe it's just relying on the draft to fill the position in the first place.

Let's just see what happens Monday Night at Fart Field in Detroit before we hit the panic button on the OL. It is cobbled together in a long season right now. All they have to worry about on MNF is keeping Geno upright long enough to hit some passes and pound out enough of a running game to win this in the fourth quarter. They are dinged-up too in Motown and will be without their center Ragnow and other key pieces.

29-27 Hawks. Happy to eat shit if I'm wrong next week.

Mafe, Williams, Murphy, Nwosu all ruled out - basically the starting d-line is out - I'd be far more worried about that. With Detroit's strong running game - this is probably the difference in the game. I'd look for detroit to run, run, run, play action and keep seattle's offense off the field. I'd put my money on detroit here. Best pass rushers out, best run stoppers out. This could get ugly fast if Seattle O doesn't score early and often. Always a special treat to see your practice squad the new starters on prime time. This would be a great time to add that 18th game and expand the playoffs so we can see Bill the hot dog vendor weeks 1-12 finally get called up to the show.

It's going to be a test of McDonald and his staff
"I would say this one, we got a lot of guys that can move and play a lot of different areas," Hankins said. "We got tackles that can play end (defensive end). We got ends that can play tackle. I don't want to say we're an old group of guys, but we got a nice balance of older guys, younger guys, and a good combination of guys that can just play good ball. But they're definitely up there as far as defense that I have played on and guys that I have been with

Nwosu could have been put on IR. All the optimism about him coming back quickly was just that. I hope that asshole OG that dove at his knee in a preseason game dies in a fire.

I would be surprised if the Seahawks beat the Lions tonight. It feels like the reality check game.
Especially when missing the big guys on Defense.

i would agree, but Lions are missing two important pieces as well - Davenport and Ragnow. Those two being out lessens Detroit's advantage against our two biggest weaknesses - the OL and rush defense. Still advantages that may be too big to overcome, but with our other advantages (better defense, especially the secondary), better receivers, and i think better coaching, victory wouldnt shock me.
