Speaking of off seasons, how about 2004, adding Adrian beltre and Richie Sexson, trying to revive the teams fading hopes. Imagine if they did something like that today. You could believe they were serious about the post season

Who would have thought missing Howard Lincoln
. “Actions speak louder than words,” team chairman Howard Lincoln said. “We’ve just demonstrated that we were dead serious about turning things around as quickly as possible. I don’t think there was any hesitation to make these large financial commitments.”
They really weren't afraid to spend back then, but that was with the Japanese ownership

That was an exciting time for sure. Unfortunately only 1x WC existed them. They went 88-74 in 2007.

Oddly, the M's pitching staff was horrible that year. Made worse by the fact that they traded Rafael Soriano who posted a 2.25 ERA in 2006 over 60 innings for LHP Horacio Ramirez... Ramirez had a 7.16 ERA in 20 starts before being DFA'd.

Jamie Moyer was the number one, the ace? lol...Richie had 39 home runs, 121 RBIs, something like that. I don't remember what that feels like anymore.

How is that reporter different than all you guys here on the Mehrinez forum with your 20 off-season plan threads? You're all fucking nuts. Take a break...

Some people really do slip through the cracks as sports reporters.

Jim Moore... Mike Salk.

I really don't know how. It's pretty cut throat to get to the top.
