This leaves 1B, 2B, 3B as positions the M's need to upgrade and will likely look at upgrading.

DH will likely be shared somewhat between the outfielders, Raley, and Garver... depending on dexterity... so I'm axing that position.

In this thread, propose a 1B, 2B, 3B to acquire either via trade or free agency. Lay out the trade, including players swapped. Pick a free agent and the years/$$ you'd pay.

Here's an example:

Mariners sign 1B Christian Walker to a 1-year $15 million deal.

Mariners trade 2B Ryan Bliss, RHP Logan Evans, OF Dom Canzone to the Cardinals for 2B Brendan Donovan.

Mariners trade RHP Emerson Hancock, 3B Ben Williamson to the Dodgers for 3B Max Muncy.

Reports and rumors are that the M';s are seriously scouting Hye-Seong Kim (not Ha-Seong Kim of former Padres fame). I posted about this a week or two ago when things were speculative. They're still speculative, but they seem to be getting some legs.

He's only 26, and although he's never hit for power, he is starting to hit more home runs (rather than less, I suppose). In the KBO, he slashed .326/.383/.458 last season, and has about a 10% strikeout rate. He can play 2B and SS, and has won gold gloves at both positions. He's young, and he's got talent, but of course there will be a drop off when (and if) he hits MLB. He'd be an affordable option, and he's got oodles of potential. But he's not going to be mashing baseballs.

The second link makes an interesting comparison to Jung Hoo Lee whose stats did drop when he hit MLB, but he still hung onto a respectable .262 batting average in 37 games with the Giants before a season-ending injury.
