I don't see it really as an inability to judge oline talent. I think their hits and misses probably align with most teams. I see it as a strategy of going with budget Olines. I think they have tried to work the margins in terms of olinemen. Perhaps you could call that poor talent evaluation. Its led to a lot of flops
He either chose the wrong lineman, or incorrectly chose to go cheap. What's the fucking difference? You telling me someone else told him to go cheap on the O Line? Jesus, the amount of blame deflection this guy gets. First it was Cable's fault, then it was Pete's fault, now it's Grubb's fault. It won't be long before it'll be Trump's fault I imagine. Seattle fans crack me up. The ONE common denominator, but....still blameless and still employed. They price the common fan out of games then bitch that the fans aren't showing up. This organization is a fricking mirror image of the West Side of this State. Tons of excuses for shit that is their fault.

Schneider over saw the downfall of what should have been a Dynasty. And through it all, is the only man standing.

Yep, John seems a lot like Jerry. Doesn't do a great job, but always hangs around, and others lose their job. Must be a Seattle thing.
Pete got two years after Russ.
Now JS is going into year two of not having Pete.
I think JS is on the hot seat finally.

I’ve never seen more complaining about a 10 win team in my life. Is John perfect? No one is. But he’s made some great trades and pick ups. And at least the guy tries. He takes the big swing. He’ll trade for the most sought after player on the market. While I agree he needs to do better on the OLine, we would be idiots to fire him.

Pretty simple. If he makes the playoffs next season he keeps his job, if not he is gone.

He would be picked up in about 2 hours by another team. Firing him would be a huge mistake

Yeah I was thinking of the cable era. I didn't blame cable, Im not generally really out looking for people to blame. That's the thing, cable is a successful line coach, I'm gonna guess he's a decent judge of talent. But they came up with the idea of having him build linemen instead of drafting them. That's what I meant as a strategy issue. And cable was blamed but I feel the team continued to try and go cheap after he was canned. You could look at it as trying to be clever perhaps

Yeah, could see it as clashes over direction, vision. He's been there a along time, things getting stale. I doubt his job is on the line in a make it or break it deal

I'm tired of watching a team that has no chance of going all the way year after year. I don't care that they win more games than they lose because they never are able to take the next step. I would have no problem with clearing some cap space and sucking for a couple years so that we can get some impact players in the draft, because the odds of finding a QB better than Geno with a 16-20ish type pick is negligible.

I tend to agree. Remember when we used to wonder how many of Schneider's decisions were vetoed by PC? Now that he's gone, Jody will be expecting Schneider to make things happen. It's all on him now.

The entire discussion is being had because they fired an OC, after a 10 win season!
