Wasn't a fan of Blowers in the booth. I found him a little patronising. He had this annoying way of calling each play as if he had an all-encompasing knowledge of what just happened he knew it in advance. Worse than we do on Game Threads :D

That being said, the article says he has been doing the job for 17 years and hasn't commented on the reason for his departure. My bet is cost-cutting - but it seems a bit disloyal of ROOT to dispense with him in this somewhat brutal way.

That's the thing, he did know it in advance, that's been proven

I'll miss Blowers, not a big deal but I like having a guy like that on the broadcast, has the background with the team as well as the Bonifieds, like Paul Moyer with the Seahawks
I wonder if he just decided to retire or was canned. He has had some crazy health issues the past couple seasons.

There has to be a way to calculate the odds of that happening. They can calculate the odds of a team winning after every play in a football or baseball game. Has to be one in a million? To get the AB, the count, Left center field right for a guys' first MLB HR. He also had to pick Tui out of 9 guys.

As I pointed out years ago Blowers is only one of 3 guys to have games with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 RBIs in a game in one season. The other two are Gehrig and Jimmie Foxx. I messaged Shannon Drayer about it and they featured it both on the pregame show and on the air during the game.

I could find out, I've got a great connection. A friend of mine, the brother of my closest friend is blowers brother in law, he's also his lawyer. I met blowers at the wedding. I sat in the wives and family section in 1995 using blowers seats. I guess I wasn't full disclosure about my feelings about blowers

Not surprised to see Blowers gone but sad he is - I liked listening to him. He seemed to be battling a variety of health issues sadly so again - not surprised to see him step away - probably felt like if he couldn't guarantee the whole year than he shouldn't do it.

We'll see how RRS and Buhner/Valle do - but really not looking forward to hearing Angie .... she really sucks. I'd rather they just leave Aaron alone and give him a dog beside him that they cut to every once in a while, than listen to Angie needing to fill every second of dead air cause she worries there shouldn't be a pause.....

I basically said the same thing on Twitter and was called misogynistic and sexist.

I mean it's got to be in the billions to one. It is such a difficult thing, first of all, to hit a home run, but to make a call predicting the count, the at bat, where it's going, and who the player is?... it's almost unfathomable.

It would be really great to hear in terms of why he's not back those of us that have heard a lot of his calls over the years and genuinely enjoyed him in the booth and certainly just in terms of him as a person. I have a hard time believing they're gonna fire Blowers. He's just been here too long and he's part of that 95 team.
