Haniger Released
Re: Haniger Released
A necessary move that the mariners have not done very often.
I even think they handled it with some class and hope for the best for Mitch.
Possibly this could be the beginning of a new way of thinking around these situations? Eating the money is abnormal for this team.

The Robbie Ray trade was a toilet flusher. Jerry is a tardseattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 7:09 pm$15 million down the toilet.
This world is nuts.
Re: Haniger Released
The $25 million Robbie Ray is owed in 2026 will instead go to arbitration salary increases for Cal Raleigh, Logan Gilbert, George Kirby and perhaps Randy Arozarena (on top of the salary differences between Ray and Mitch Haniger in 2024 and 2025).Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 9:46 pmThe Robbie Ray trade was a toilet flusher. The Mariners likely would make that trade with the Giants again.
Re: Haniger Released
This is what I thought from my opening day raster decision to keep Rowdy in addition to Garver, Moore, and Solano on the bench. And Mitch starting out on the I.L. And then doing a lengthy rehab to get him confident and hot and maybe come back up. But this is just as well. Hoping he pops up with another club.rockycola wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 5:39 pmA little surprised, but not much. I thought he'd be put on the 60-day I.L. This is probably better. Mitch is a total class act and I wish him well.Southpaw773 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 5:28 pmhttps://marinersblog.mlblogs.com/marine ... 7e3bbd109d?

Big loss of money wonder if he will be picked up or is his career over?

That's the thing about banking on "bounce-back" candidates, they're usually going to cost you a couple games in the standings before you realize it ain't happening.
