Times probably pays more than being an American legion team HC. I doubt he can retire given what you mentioned about pay.

One of the weirdest stats in MLB history and somehow totally overlooked: Gilbert last season led the league with a 0.89 WHIP yet somehow had an ERA of 3.23, I guarantee you that nobody in a full season (162+ innings) has ever had a WHIP that low and had an ERA of even as much as three. Usually when you have a WHIP that low your ERA is close to or less than two. Gilbert's just a really odd pitcher in that he gets batters out at the highest rate but when they get on base he gives up the big hits.
