In a hitter's park like Toronto you've got to do better than that. Just effing pathetic. Also, please trade Julio.
Julio is bad.

We trade him and he absolutely thrives somewhere else. He needs to be taken out of leadoff spot. Also Randy moved up to 3rd Jp Polanco Randy top 3 can take pitches great way to start a game make the pitcher work. They know how to get on base. Julio needs to be dropped now. He has gotten I think 1 hit in the leadoff spot all year maybe 2! Tellez idiot for tagging up did save us from being shutout!!

I think he will be better lower in the lineup. Behind Cal.
Jp/Moore
Polanco
Arozarena
Raleigh
Rodriguez
Raley
Tellez/Locklaer yesss it's time for his shot again. Cut Solano
Williamson
Mast/co

This lineup needs change and fast!!

Julio's problem seems to be swing and miss in the zone and poor quality of contact in the zone. It's just stunning how many in the zone, hittable pitches he fouls off or hits on the ground. I think this is most likely a swing issue.

Shitty hitting aside, we ran ourselves out of this game. Arozarena with an incredibly stupid baserunning mistake, and Rowdy's was even dumber. And these guys have been playing this game for over 20 years.

This seems like a manager issue to me. I don't think Rowdy Tellez, who is literally one of the slowest players in the game, makes that decision on his own.

Agreed.

I use Julio and JP as examples of how not to swing when working with my son.

Not going to hit the ball often enough with a big loopy swing like theirs.

Most major league swings are pretty long and loopy these days, at least among the elite power guys that tend to have very good bat speed. But it might be too long and loopy in this case, where we're talking about a difference of milliseconds between driving a ball or fouling it off.

Here's the most recent video I could find of his swing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m15gu4zzVvg

It's a very sort of aesthetically pleasing swing to look at. It's similar to Mookie Betts. But I think there could be a problem with too much hand movement, which, to be fair, works just fine for some guys. But I think in his case it's just not efficient. If you think about all that's going on from when the pitcher releases the ball to the hitter deciding to swing or not, and then in this case there's this little hitch he's added into the process. I think it probably detracts.

Here's Yordan, who I think has one of the best swings in the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSKfp4QWz-8

What I like about this swing is that there's no wasted movement, at all. You see him start from this strong, wide-legged stance with his hands high and basically pre-loaded, which simplifies the entire operation. You can see how as he loads, the hands are right there where he needs them, whereas with Julio it's like he's trying to get his hands into the right position as he's already moving forward, which does work for some guys.

The problem with Julio's swing is it's always that shape whether the ball is low or high.

He's basically swinging up at any ball that's not low.

Same with JP. They're swinging under everything.
