Mariners win! We're HEROES!!!

Still 4 1/2 back of the Asstros and it doesn't look like they're going to let up anytime soon. They're pretty much taking the year off and they're still in first place. That organization just wants it more than the Mariners do.

Sure would like to see the M's inquire on Ozuna and Olson from the Braves here pretty quick.

Olson is owed $22M a year until age 36... but probably has 3-4 really good years left in him.
Remember you proposing yoan moncada before the season, that would seem to have worked out other than the injuries. Olson is interesting, he's having a fantastic defensive season, seems odd his war isn't higher. I do think there's pressure to make a deadline move, assuming they stay in contacy. They still probably couldn't stomach an Olson type contract.

Getting back to the Giants, something Posey said about the opportunity to get a bat ; like Devers. It's rare, that's why teams are giving these contracts to players before they hit FA. It really is crazy how the Red Sox after developing him and getting him signed to a long term contract then just unload it. When Bregman walks they are going to be stuck with nothing.

Julio continues to piss me the fuck off.
I just wonder WHEN is he going to figure it out?!?!

You'd think with his money he'd have the best coaches money can buy.
Ive said it before, and I'll say it again. If you were going to make almost $210 million whether you did a great job, good job, average job or poor job...what exactly is your motivation to do a great job? Baseball is stupid. But? Here locally? The poor guy is just under so much pressure to perform, what we really need to do is cheer for him louder and be more supportive. Even if he is a mediocre player making over $17 million per year...GUARANTEED.

Julio even with his typical slow start is on pace for around 6 fWAR, that would make his salary a bargain

Interesting.
Based on the information available, Julio Rodriguez's total salary for 2025 is $20,185,714. This figure includes his base salary plus a prorated signing bonus.
While an exact league-wide ranking can fluctuate slightly depending on the specific list and data source used, a common ranking puts him among the top 65 players overall in MLB. Filtering for just position players and considering his salary, Julio Rodriguez's 2025 salary would place him around 37th among MLB position players for the 2025 season, based on available data. He ranks just behind players like Salvador Perez ($20.5 million) and just ahead of José Ramírez ($20.14 million).
37th among position players. Yet -

79th in BA at .258
61st in HRs with 10
97th in OBP at .321
99th in SLG at .412
105th in OPS at .783 JP Crawford is 38th

Yep, fucking bargain. You are telling me he saves so many runs in CF that he is a top 15 player in the league? Because I don't see fucking bargain from a guy that is paid like the 37th best player in the game but puts up those numbers! Bargain my fucking ass. He's stealing fucking money.

DB is the ultimate management apologist, and of course the biggest contrarian that any of us have ever encountered.

Not to mention being a center fielder gives you an advantage where WAR is concerned. All you have to do is look at Willie May's and Hank Aaron's WARs every year, they put up virtually the same numbers but Mays' WAR was always significantly higher because he played center field while Aaron played right field.

I don't know about previous seasons, but this season Julio's actual run production has been considerably less than his offensive WAR would seem to indicate. That is because he he hasn't been getting hits with men on base and wOBA (what O WAR is based on) doesn't distinguish between a grand slam HR and a solo HR.

Sorry, fuck WAR if it in any way suggests the bullshit below ranks him amongst the top 36 positional players.
