Yay... good minor leaguers... means so very little for the team that hoped to be dominating the West by now...Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 2:23 amWe haven't talked much about this, but it's really cool and refreshing frankly to see nearly all of our top prospects doing their thing in the minors.
We've hit on Harry Ford, Arroyo and Montes who were recently promoted, but you also have Walter Ford and Ryan Sloan carving opponents up on the bump, Colt Emerson and Felnin Celesten waking up and tho one CF 1st rounder is hurt (Farmelo) the other (Tai Peete) has 12 homers last I looked. So Peete making some progress. Has the power and speed tool you covet (14 SBs) and still super young at 19 in High A. Celesten also 19 still at A ball.
Celesten's numbers this year by month:

Well I managed to find it but now it's behind a paywall, I'm really confident that's it, whateverGL_Storm wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 5:22 am[I'd like to read that article if you have a link.]Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Jul 08, 2025 3:04 amRead an article awhile ago, it was about basically DR player development. ML franchises are fielding two teams now in the DR league when before it was one, they have prospect capacity now. The mariners were criticized for continuing to have a single team. But it was also pointed out the impressive number of premier prospects they have in the pipeline even with the more limited investment.
And there's the complaining about Arroyo not getting the attention he deserves from the ranking systems. That's because as I understand it flew under the radar being from Colombia rather than the DR. But he must not have been under the mariners radar even with their more limited scouting resources
I suppose having two teams would open up playing time but from what I can see there's plenty of playing time for the prospects that matter, which is usually no more than a few guys. Having two teams would mean managing twice as many players at the facility, most of whom would never amount to much. On the other hand, it's a bigger net and maybe you get lucky and catch something. But the Mariners having just one team in the Dominican seems reasonable to me.

Here's an article about the marlins, they are aggressively adding players, talks about the issues with having to fill out two rosters.
https://www.mlb.com/news/marlins-sign-1 ... pects-2025Will the Marlins explore other international markets?
“I was just in the Bahamas this past week looking at available players. We've been heavily scouting in some other markets as well: Curaçao, Aruba. There's been a stronger emphasis now on Brazil as well, because of the pact that they have with MLB. We recently hired a new scouting coordinator that's going to oversee Colombia and Panama, a country that we haven't had that much presence in for some time, and we've been doing our research to get more involved with Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I think for the future, our plans are going to be to cast a really wide net, trying to identify as much talent as possible to see what makes most sense for the Marlins as a whole.

Somewhat off-topic and apologies if already mentioned, but this thread has had 629,000 views which is extraordinary - even if Google Bot is checking in twice a day. Its about 3,500 hits per day or 2.5 times every minute.
Wonder which MLB team is relentlessly checking out the thread and preparing an amazing pre-deadline deal?

This particular thread? That's hard to believe. Yorger Bautista is now up to 6 HR in about 100 PA. He’s hitting .247 with an .849 OPS. After initially struggling with the K, he’s had 5 Ks in his last 10 games, and 36 PA. 60 grade run, 65 grade arm. For reference, he’s looking to be on pace to do about what Laz did in the DSL HR wise. He’s going to climb up the rankings next year.
