Not sure wtf you're talking about pretty much everyone wants them to upgrade the front end of the bullpen. They're not going to add to the rotation or get a new setup guy/ closer.

Why not?

Shelby Miller
Kyle Fimnegan
David Bednar
Chapman
Guys like that could be available

Just don't see them doing it. After this latest brilliant showing in NY they might end up doing nothing.

Cole Young at 2B is a joke I believe he may be good in the future but a 70 OPS+ is not allowable. Just look at what it would be to have CJ Abram’s and a 138 OPS+ and 19 SB 12 HR in 79 games CJ has 3.3 WAR. Cole has 1 HR 0SB and 0.3 WAR. That is a huge up grade.

Williamson: 69 games 1.1 WAR 80 OPS+ 1 HR 2/3 SB 15 RBI, 32 runs
VS
Eugenio: 91 games 2.7 WAR 140 OPS+, 29 HR 75 RBI, 54 runs

Between to the two you get a 70 and a 60 point jumps in OPS+.

The M’s entered with a 112 OPS+ offense and pulling those two and playing these two would be an upgrade to a 126 OPS+ offense. That means scoring runs at a much higher rate. That means more wins.

I also wanted to get 1 or 2 pen upgrades:

My 1st target would be a power lefty Boston’s Chapman?

And then add another maybe David Bednar?

It be great but they aren't adding Abrams, Suarez, Bednar at the deadline. I think the question should be, instead of a Xmas list, you get one significant addition, who would it be? I think that's an interesting question. Say would Chapman or Abrams be more helpful?

Julio is hitting .225/.261/.318/.579 in his last 30 games.

Nothing we say here in this thread matters unless he stops sucking absolute dick.

That was my thinking in spring training, that the season would basically depend on Julio taking that next step and putting the offense on his back.

That is starting to look like the smart thing to do. In order to have any shot in the playoffs we'd need 2-3 bats and 2-3 bullpen arms. Even then we are most likely looking at trading a lot of prospects just to go out in the first or second round of the playoffs.

I'd be for trading for pieces for the future like Acuna if you could get him.
