Sure, but with his play I'd think it'd be like 10.
He's tied for 37th over that span.
And to Vogel's credit, why WAR should probably not be compared too closely between positions.

Its always relative, how common or important are clean innings for closers? This site, Closing Time, which is updated every Tuesday has Munoz ranked sixth best.

We have the argument all the time that someone like Kyle Schwarber is far more valuable than his WAR indicates.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 4:53 amThe fuck? that is the entire purpose of WAR are you more intoxicated than me?Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 4:48 amWhich seems silly.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 4:46 am

My argument will always be that there is too much of a buff given to SS's, CF's. etc.
The fact that a player can be hitting for a 1.100 OPS and 11 steals over an 8 game span and only generate 0.3 WAR while playing solid defense is insane.

Didn't there used to be a forum member named "WAR what is it good for"?
Unrelated, but that's the dumbest song ever. Absolutely nothing? Seriously?

Yeah, but the lyrics, "War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!"Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 5:01 amWell the war it was written about surely wasn't good for much.
Maybe run that stupid line by a holocaust survivor, or freed slaves, or people who gained independence from monarchs, or.... It's a fucking stupid song for idiots.

seems to me either accept it or reject it, there is reasoning behind the weights, they have a purpose. Its not like the guys at fangraphs are going to slap their foreheads going, gee we didn't realize we were screwing Schwarber. Its the cherry picking, WAR will get tossed around here in debate and when i bring it up it always seems to get discounted because of it being weighted. Okay its weighted, that's how its doneSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 4:57 amWe have the argument all the time that someone like Kyle Schwarber is far more valuable than his WAR indicates.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 4:53 amThe fuck? that is the entire purpose of WAR are you more intoxicated than me?Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 4:48 am

I think the numbers should be adjusted slightly... just me though.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 5:09 amseems to me either accept it or reject it, there is reasoning behind the weights, they have a purpose. Pitcher fWAR is also really, really silly. They do theirs by FIP when a pitcher's sole job is to limit runs.

Fangraphs has Eduard Bazardo worth -0.1 fWAR and Casey Legumina at 0.0...
