Yeah, but I think that what DeBoer went through last year shows why those guys turned it down. Bama fans are on suicide watch after one loss. Many smarter than Kalen saw that coming and said no.
I’m sure that was a slap to that arrogant fan base also. Saban leaves, Sweeney, Kiffin and Sark all come out publicly and state they have no interest, Lanning says no….

this is way off topic but i was just perusing some Husky stuff, Harald Hasselbach, played a total of four plays in a five year career as a Husky and yet turned it into both a Canadian and NFL career.
Playing five years of college football at the University of Washington and backing up Dennis Brown and Steve Emtman, he only appeared in four plays, including a tackle of Emmitt Smith. He talked the Philadelphia Eagles out of drafting him in the 1990 NFL draft because he had already signed with the Calgary Stampeders. He then went on to play four seasons in the CFL (two as an all-star). At Calgary, defensive line coach Tom Higgins helped mold his talent before he engaged in a 14-team bidding war for his services, deciding to sign with the Denver Broncos.
From 1994 through 2000, Hasselbach played for the Broncos, where he tallied 154 tackles, 29 regular season starts and a start in Super Bowl XXXIII. He had 17.5 NFL-career quarterback sacks and four forced fumbles. He never missed a game (regular or playoff) in his seven-year tenure (121 games) in Denver. This total included nine NFL playoff games and starts in all three playoff games when Denver repeated as Super Bowl champions in Super Bowl XXXIII, where he recorded two tackles against Atlanta. He is one of at least ten players to have won a Grey Cup and a Super Bowl.

He must have built a reputation as a scout team DT otherwise why would he have been on any team's radar for the 1990 draft?

he was dutch, i guess he was learning football, but why on earth would a team want to draft him, pretty crazy. And he put together a pretty impressive career. He died last year from cancer. The kid that transferred from Michigan, the end, he coached him in high school, that's how i read about him.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 8:48 pmHe must have built a reputation as a scout team DT otherwise why would he have been on any team's radar for the 1990 draft?

Really? I have seen it speculated about but I haven't heard it from the Seahawks, in fact its been more the opposite hasn't it?One play from Jalen Milroe 's NFL debut showed exactly how he can help the Seahawks' offense this season even as their third QB. Milroe gained 27 yards on a zone-read keeper, flashing the impressive running ability that Seattle plans to take advantage of on occasion via specialty packages.

The fans plan to use him that way, not sure about the coaches though.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 12:56 amReally? Robbie Outzs first career snap as a fullback and a pro, goes up against Maxx Crosby and stands him up helping to break a 19 yard run for Holani. Just doing his job as a fullback to a T. That seemed like an odd draft pick but so far so good

here it is“They brought a ‘Sam’ (strong-side) strong safety, something that we haven’t really repped much with that run scheme,” Macdonald said. “But to be able to follow those rules — and ended up blocking Maxx on that play, which was pretty cool.

Also watched a review on the OL in general, and Zabel and Lucas in particular, highlighting what a difference both of those guys make. Showed Lucas winning his reps against Crosby. one of the league's very best, without any help, even when he lined up in the wide 9 stance. Aside from Maxx I dont think of the Raiders DLine as world-beaters, but it was so refreshing the OL dominating in the first half, getting more push than i can recall since the Holmgren days with Walt and Hutch.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 3:37 amRobbie Outzs first career snap as a fullback and a pro, goes up against Maxx Crosby and stands him up helping to break a 19 yard run for Holani. Corbin K. Smith
@CorbinSmithNFL
Some thoughts on #Seahawks right guard battle:
-Christian Haynes played solid on Thursday. But it feels like he's out of the mix since he last received first team reps over a week ago.
-Jalen Sundell at center for injured Olu Oluwatimi may have knocked him out of mix as well.
Sundell received the start with the first-team offense against the Raiders as a result. Sundell totaled 40 snaps against the Raiders, earning an extensive look from offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and the coaching staff. He especially thrived in pass protection, earning a blocking grade of 82.9 from Pro Football Focus.
Sundell was whistled for one penalty, but didn't allow any pressures or sacks. PFF claimed he struggled as a run blocker, grading him at 43.5, but that tends to be more subjective than pass protection. Sundell took full advantage of extra reps, and it's imperative Oluwatimi returns to practice sooner rather than later.
