My first priority is bringing back Naylor. At this rate I'd look elsewhere for production from 3B. My choices be.

A. Move Polanco over there or;

B. Let Geno Walk & try for a short term deal with Max Muncy. Dude is raking in LA. Wouldn't cost much either.
I’m just curious why four teams have traded him.

Cleveland got a nothing pitcher for him.
Naylor has never been that valuable. we are definitely focused on a SSS as opposed to a career. it's hard not to be, its been A heck of a run so far. He's put up more WAR for the Mariners than he did for the entire season with the Dbacks.
Naylor is 4 for last 26 with a .346 ops lol That is why you don't give guys with 7 career WAR $100M based on small feel good samples.

Naylor has never really been a top tier first basemen. This year he is 13th in fWAR, 14th in HR, 15th in Slugging Percentage and Fangraphs has him ranked 18th in Defense. That is firmly middle of the pack. I would like to aim higher especially since we have so much trade capital.
.
I agree on Naylor but which top tier FA 1B are we signing?

Pete Alonso (31) – can opt out of remaining one year and $24MM
Luis Arraez (29)
Josh Bell (33)
Wilmer Flores (34)
Ty France (31)
Paul Goldschmidt (38)
Rhys Hoskins (33) – $18MM mutual option with a $4MM buyout
Josh Naylor (29)
Ryan O’Hearn (32)
Salvador Perez (36) – $13.5MM club option with a $2MM buyout
Carlos Santana (40)
Dominic Smith (31)
Donovan Solano (38)
Rowdy Tellez (31)
Justin Turner (41) – $10MM mutual option with a $2MM buyout

Give me one of the two 29 year olds. Araez intrigues me. Seems like the ball carrying might not impact his swing as much, as he is a gap to gap line drive guy. But I always thought the same about Cirillo, so who the heck knows?

And we already blew our shot at Alonso. It's frustrating that our front office didn't seriously pursue him, if he'd been in our lineup this season the Asstros would be chasing us and we could have emphasized bolstering the bullpen last month.

Two problems with that. One, signing him as a FA would mean we didn't Trade for him, Draft him or Develop him, and that wouldn't match their philosophy, and it if worked? They might have looked bad for spending all those years saying that is the only way to win. But most importantly? That would have required them to pay money, and not wait until the deadline, hope they are close enough to trade for someone and hope that someone is available that can help. We don't want to be winning the division at the deadline, because that means we would have had to pay top dollar for players for a full season, and not just rent them later. They can also now throw up their hands when it doesn't work and claim that they tried their best.

Trying their best should start in the winter, but it never does...not since what? Cano?

How many RH power bats do you need to see before you realize that T-Mobile is death to RH power? In the history of Safeco/ TMobile besides Cruz who has been good? And even Cruz struggled at home for 2 of his 4 years here. We have had in their prime hall of fame players that can not hit here. Why spend $25+ million on a player that won't hit here? Can we please talk about getting spray hitters or LH power hitters?

Yeah it's gotta be Arraez or Naylor. I guess Raley technically but I'd rather not.

Louis Arraez? ...with the .717obs, six home runs, 98obs+...imagine what tmobile does to him, probably drops his obs to 650

What do you mean by trying their best? Do you think they don't make deals in the winter, because they're too busy slacking off and playing golf? I would assume it's all intentional, and Jerry is trying to keep his job.
