Mariners win! We're HEROES!!!
This was one of those games that wasn't anywhere close to what the final score indicated.
Two out of three from the Madres, gotta like that! Hopefully the Crockies can help us out again tonight. GOOOOOO CROCKIES

Andres 4 seamer this year has an XSLG of .627... last year, .392.
He's got an expected BA+SLG of over 1.000 on that pitch.
It has been sitting 96-98... I wonder if he's gotta get back up over 100.

Note on Bazardo... he's increased his sinker usage by almost double compared to last year and is throwing it 35% of the time. He has reduced the use of 4-seamer by a similar margin, seemingly swapping use of the pitches.
The sinker has a positive run value of 10 and is why he's been so good.

Kyle Schwarber has been the Phillies leadoff hitter, not so much this season i guessSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:48 pmI'm surprised they haven't put Cal at lead-off. And half you guys would support that move too.
Re: GT 134 Woo vs Darvish
Doesn't it make infinitely more sense to put Julio #2 and Cal #3 in the lineup?
I've never understood why they are inverted in our lineup. Makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Julio has been a far better hitter in the 3-hole vs 2-hole in his career.
.850 vs .740 OPS.
It would actually be better if Julio led off. When he is the first batter of a game he has a 1.139 slash.

Sounds like Woo was really pissed off about being taken out of the game with 2 outs in the inning. I think this was a case where a little more flexibility with regard to pitch count limits would be a good thing.

seems to me cal is hitting pretty high in the lineup. And it would seem to me the lineup should be a function of runs generated, how it works as it flips. I am gonna guess dipoto is running calculations for how the lineup should work as opposed to dan scratching his butt deciding to hit Cal second. So even though it seems odd to me I think they are operating with more information than we have. Here's a lineup optimization tool online. You enter the lineup statistically and then it runs thousands of simulated games. I have to guess Dipoto has come up with something along those lines

is there a link?...I poked around for a minute for one, found this that i wasn't aware of, they come up with these endless records these days but still, that's pretty impressiveSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 3:52 pmSounds like Woo was really pissed off about being taken out of the game with 2 outs in the inning. The New York Mets spoiled a historic afternoon for Bryan Woo, defeating the Seattle Mariners 3-1 at Citi Field behind rookie Nolan McLean’s stellar debut.
Although the game didn’t go Seattle’s way, Woo broke a record that had stood for nearly six decades. He became the first pitcher in MLB history to open a season with 24 consecutive starts of at least six innings while issuing no more than two walks, surpassing Hall of Famer Juan Marichal’s 1968 streak.
